I've recently gotten into the outlaw series, very silly fun versions of the very few sports I enjoy (namely tennis and golf)
as an obesessive compulsive collector I've decided i want to get a full set of them.
(major shame no new ones are coming out DAMN YOU EA GAMES)
anywho, what I have so far:
xbox:
outlaw tennis
outlaw volleyball:red hot bb exclusive
outlaw volleyball
outlaw golf 9 MORE holes of golf
I went to eb games yesterday because i remeber seeing the bb exclusive 9 holes of xmas golf. it was there
I got that ,the volleyball game and the friends game (ps2)
the guy at the register tried ringing it up.
he couldn't get my edge card thingie to work...
he eventually tried scanning another card he had on the desk...couldn't get that to work
somehow he got it to work.
he rung up the games
the prices on the boxes were:
friends 19.99
volleyball 12.99
golf 9.99
so with my edge card thats like 45ish right?
nope
the dumbfuck rung them up as:
friends 19.99
volleyball 19.99
golf 19.99
see, he was having a problem ringing up the bb exclusive game..so instead of just typing the price in...he put in the code for outlaw golf 2..
I bitched at him when i saw it on the screen that those prices were wrong (he was trying to charge me for a NEW copy of the vb game, even though the one i gave him was a used copy complete with 3000 stickers all over the box)
so he changed the prices to almost the correct amounts
he ended up making the bb exclusive game 8.99 instead of the marked 9.99
he was rude and nasty during the whole transaction..so to I made him re-shrinkwrap the friends game ;-)
after such I went home (keep in mind this ebgames is pretty far from where I live)
and for the kicker?
I got home,...played vollleybal...it kinda sucked compared to the others..
so I was like fine...I never really dug the sport anyways.
so I popped open my bb exclusive 9 holes of golf..
inside?
9 MORE FUCKING HOLES OF XMAS GOLF....
grrr..., idiot couldn't even put the right game in the case
and my reciept still shows I bought outlaw golf 2...
if I can't return the game for the correct one..or my money back..I'm going to be pissed and might just burn down the store and blow up the jerkwads car.
but yeah thats my eb games rant ;-)
a guy just wants to play some golf :-(

You should try dealing with annoying people everyday. Shit happends dude, just bring it back they will return it.
Some people here piss me off with there EB games rant, like its our fault the computers fuck up and ring out the wrong games. Heck, when you scan harvest moon for the GBA some like elmo game comes up.
Just return the stupid thing and get your $ back.

that wasn;'t what i was angry about.
he put the wrong game in the case AND he was a massive dick
mistakes happen, I work retail
but bad attitudes just make things worse
he made me feel like it was my damned fault his computer rang up the wrong prices.

reminds me of the time i tried to buy some games from a closing down sale with a complete waste of space behind the counter..
i had various games, and 5 gamegear games when i went to pay.. all the games were 50% off. i added up all the prices twice myself, and was happy enough with the results.. i then went up to pay, and he gave me another, higher price. he recalculated like three times, each time going through all of them and somehow counting wrong. he then said "this game is on the computer for cheaper, so do you want it at that price?" i said "the discounts still apply right?" "yes" he said. i obviously accepted this, same kinda deal with another game, only for some reason he would only let me choose between the non-discounted scanned price, or the discounted marked price.. and he was getting pissed off aswel for some reason. in the end, wit these supposed further discounts, he handed me a higher price than to begin with, i obviously got pretty pissed at that and counted it all out myself, with just the marked prices, and handed him my results (i used a calculator, twice to be sure, and once on paper) he rejected my results, cos apparently he can count better. i looked at his workings, he was counting 6 gamegear games, and putting 6 of the same game into the computer. i pointed this out, and he did something on the computer and handed me a new price, i asked why he still gave me a higher number than all the prices added then divided by two, and why the number of games was different.. he said "i'm just doing it a different way".. in the end he gave me a price and said "i've made it this, and we're done".. 'this' was still higher than what it was marked, and still showed a 6th copy of one of my 5 gamegear games. he didnt use any of the prices on the computer like he said he would (one marked $7.50 on the price tag was $2 on the computer, others similar, a big difference in price) and he was very rude to me the whole time. there were also games which were in their sale according to the sign which he said "no, you cant have discount on that".
he also got my friends prices wrong.. he must have been a mental wasteland.
i was unhappy about it for quite a long time afterwards, the sale was not what i had been looking forward to, quite the opposite in fact.
however i got a copy of action 52 for genesis semi-boxed(box has been modified for a plastic case) with manual, so that outweighs all that dickheads pricing in one go.

i agree, its totally karma, not only are 20 percent of customers complete asshats, management also sucks and does little or nothing to help out in bad situations... and the pay is terrible.
this is the state of our "service economy", and the cycle of angry customers/bad service will continue to spiral downward

Some people are like that... and sometimes they are EB empolyees lol. I had posted a thread about a bad situation with an EB empolyee.
I'm not saying all EB workers are jerks or whatever, but anyone can have a bad day... it just seems like we always get them on their bad day.

when i worked in retail, i was as friendly and helpful as you could get. i sold computers and i knew my shit. when a customer had a question, i had an answer over 90% of the time, and knew where to find the answer 90% of the times that i didnt directly know.
there problem is some people have frustrations in life, and decide to take it out on whoever they fell is beneath them. this percentage - between 10 and 20 percent - do not know the difference between good customer service and fellatio
these problems are going to happen in any retial situation, but more and more, management is making the problems worse by not giving their employees the tools to fix the problems. whether its a lousy computer system, a rigid sales policy.
on top of that, reward systems are getting totally out of whack with the needs of the customer. pre-orders and service plan sales are more important in judging an employee than general customer service, sales, and product knowledge.
in the end it really boils down to pay. if sales jobs pay well, you get better sales people

Exactly how I felt after reading it. Chances are your going to catch an EB employee in a bad mood. Hell everytime I work there I am in a bad mood and I've been doing it for 3 years. I have to fix all the new hires mistakes and have to deal with annoying kids screaming in my ears.
I still go the extra mile to help the cool people out, but if someone is going to make me shirkwrap a game, well they better assume im just going to put a sticker over it. No way would I do that.
Thats just me, and people that know me and people that are cool that come in and the people that have bought from me on this site all know I go the extra mile to hook them up.

ah my apologies.
I hadn't realized how hard and dificult an eb games worker's life was.

how dare I speak ill of the godly saints that work at eb games
please please accept my humble apologies!

if it really grates on you, dont shop there

You and others made the choice to work there, so if you don't like the pay you could work somewhere else?
Just because someone has to do their job, doesn't mean they have to be a complete dickhead about it.
But we don't know what really happened or what words were exactly said, we only know Blitzwing's story. If Blitzwing was an ass about the price, then the eb worker probably had the right to be a dick back (not like he can make the computer say the right price on the first time, or knew that wasn't the right price).

thank you, that was what had me most iritated.
but you're right you've only heard my side of the story.
I was very polite at first, but his attitude was very poor (lots of exasperated sighs when I said the price was wrong etc etc)
and I'll even admit making him shrink wrap the friends game was just being mean (since I opened the game when i got home anyways)
but yeah, I understand everyone has a bad day, and were I to shop there again if he was pleasent and not a total dickfuck I'd turn my opinion around easily.
I just want the right game that I paid for, and the fact that my reciept says outlaw golf 2 instead of 9 holes of xmas golf..I suspect i'll be getting in a shouting match when i return to get what I paid for.

nope
the dumbfuck rung them up as:
friends 19.99
volleyball 19.99
golf 19.99
He made it seem like it was HIM that was charging 19.99 for the game. We all know the eb prices change so much, chances are they missed the title due to it being marked wrong from home office and the employee didn't catch it. He probably knew nothing about the game and whatever the computer rings it up as is what we go by. If there is a title out on the floor that says 9.99 and the computer marks it as 19.99 then well we have to lower the price. Chances are he just missed it.
I work there because I've been doing it since HS and am doing it through college. I make good money there and there is no point in going somewhere else while im still in school.
Like someone said if you don't like EB dont shop there. You dont have to be a dick by making him reshrink wrap a game just to piss him off even more.

Games in the Outlaw Series that I can think of off the top of my head. (by the way, EA Never released/published any of these. Initally it was Simon & Schuster and then for the newer ones GlobalStar [better known as GS games] published them)
Outlaw Tennis (XB/PS2)
Outlaw Volleyball (XB) [There are 2 different covers]
Outlaw Volleyball: Red Hot!(BB exclusive) (XB)
Outlaw Volleyball: Remix (PS2)
Outlaw Golf (XB,GC)
Outlaw Golf/Seablade double pack (XB)
Outlaw Golf/Darkened Skye double pack(GC)
Outlaw Golf: Holiday Golf (TRU Exclusive) (XB) [same as below just with a different title]
Outlaw Golf: 9 Holes of Golf (BB Excluive) (XB) [same as above just with a different title]
Outlaw Golf: 9 More holes of Golf (BB Exclusive) (XB)
Outlaw Golf 2 (XB, PS2)
And something that i've learned from my many years of buying used stuff (especially used stuff thats locked up and they have to get the discs for it) is to check to make sure they not only put the disc in there, but that they put the right disc in there. I've been burned a few times and caught wrong stuff and also just denied some discs due to their condition, that I wouldn't have been able to if I didn't look at them before I paid.

so very true.
one time i went to buy an aussie gameboy color as a present for someone.. in the store there was a tv with mario kart 64 next to the games, with the controllers on the table in front. the game was sitting at the select number of players screen, so i started to play it, thinking "he, i just got mario kart ds, lets see the differences" after a few seconds, he must have tried to call out to me, but i didnt hear, i think i thought he was talking to the other employee.. then he did that whistle thing to get my attention, and said "OI! LEAVE IT!" like i was scum trying to crap on the controller. i replied "why, i thought it was on demo play" he replied "Cos I said so!". i then stood around the game section for half an hour hoping the female employee i always get served by and who knows me well as a regular customer would come over to help me instead of him. she was next to him though and i think he said something to her to stop her. after that half an hour, i turned around to face the counter and said "can i get some help?" he said "all you have to do is ask" which was complete crap cos the other 250 times i'd been there that woman had gone out of her way to offer me assistance. after i made my choice, and he got it out of the cabnet, i said "if you have it on to test it, you'd be better off having it on demo mode, not in the menu, it's more strainuous on the hardware." he said "We'll do what we like"(he spoke bluntly like saying even half sentences to me wasnt worth the breath) i said "clearly" trying to regain a bit of dignity, he said "what?" i honestly thought he didnt hear, so i repeated "Clearly" he went off his head, "DO YOU WANT TO BUY THIS OR NOT!?" "i'm sorry, i was just spoken to rudely and i didnt like it" "IT'S NOT FOR SALE!, YOU CANT HAVE IT!" "I'm a regular customer, and i dont like being treated rudely" "NOT ANYMORE!!" *throws aussie gameboy color at the wall, past the female employee, af full pelt* and he looks like the chunky footballer type, so full pelt is pretty hard. i said "whatever" under my breath, and left my favourite store for the last time ever.
now, this guy cant have a good home life, i seriously didnt provoke anything this radical, if anything maybe a few ruffled feathers, but this guy decided i wasnt worth the dust on their floor. the things i understand least, are firstly the fact that he actually threw the gameboy, and secondly that he threw it past his employee (he was the manager afaik) and not too far away from her either. what he did seriously cant be even legal, i was thinking of reporting him, but i wouldnt know who to talk to..

Great detailed list, thanks for posting it! (cut and pasted)
As for checking used discs in stores: I always do, and always did. This way I'm sure the disc is in acceptable condition, and I get what I want. I reject around 30% of the discs offered.

Blitzwing256 is completely right. If someone gives you bad service...FUCK WITH THEM. I don't give a damn how bad of a day you had, don't take it out on the customer. I hate going into a store (no matter what kind of service they are providing...shoes, games, gasoline) and getting a piss poor additude. I mess with them SO hard, I play with their emotions.
There is no excuse. PERIOD.
And for those who don't know, I worked for EB Games for 5 years and Babbages for 3 years before that. As a matter of fact I have been employed in the customer service industry/sales for well over a decade.

BTW, if anyone ever gets treated like the people did in this thread, just call the corporate office. Then call the District Manager.
Let the employee know you are going to do it also. They will be freaked out for quite a while.
I always tell them that I am going to lie when I call.

What I was saying had nothing to do with you. However, now that you mention it...and I could be off base, but it seems like you have a poor additude yourself.
When someone comes in with a friendly demeanor, you're saying they can only get your best service if you like them? Maybe they have to be into something that you enjoy for you to get involved with the interaction.
That's pretty cool x_x you have a REAL bright future ahead of you!

That may be true, but, just because somebody works customer service doesn't mean they have to put up with abuse from a customer.

Seems like you would have a little more understanding of what Customer Service people have to deal with on a daily basis and realize that nine times out of ten, they are not purposefully trying to ruin your "oh so important" service, product, etc.
Sometimes it's better to take the highroad.

Looks like I was misunderstood. If I get average to poor quality in customer service, I just smile and keep being polite. Its when I get a terrible employee that acts rude and tries to act like they are all high and mighty...that's what makes me mad.
I have only messed with three people in a retail establishment. All three deserved it, they treated me like I was a piece of shit and I was annoying them. There job is to help me when I have a question and on two of those occasions I was a regular customer.
My whole point of these posts was to point out that if you work in customer service and treat people BADLY without respect then you should not work in cutomer service.
I still work with the public on a daily basis and treat everyone like they deserve to be treated, with respect.
If someone (a customer) is being direspectful or blatantly rude....then have at it! Be a dick back to them, that is your purogative.
I hated working at EB when I did, due to some of the assholes that came in. But I just smiled and kept my mouth shut (most of the time ;) ). I also had GREAT customers that I looked foward to helping and they got extra attention. The people here who know me on these forums will attest that I am a nice, friendly person. But when the time comes that someone wants to mess with me, it's not a pretty sight.
Sorry if I offended anyone, it just pisses me off when people are blatantly rude to all customers.

I only ment that for the people that come in acting all high and mighty. Believe me, the job stinks as im sure you know.

I hear you man! I had a situation with 2 separate customers that were swearing and pissed before they even walked in the door. Needless to say they did NOT get the same treatment they would have had they talked to me in a civil manner at the beginning.
