If you had the chance to speak to a person at SNKPlaymore, what questions would you ask them?

just write some questions you haver in your mind.
I'll try to summarize them all later.

You've got a chance to talk to them?

Alright, what's this I hear about a 3D Metal Slug? (and whatever came of that anyway?)

Why does it take so long for you guys to port over a game?

Why do most of your games suck now?

Can you never do 3d games again in your life please? k thx bye

Yes, if only we had the SNK of old making quality titles like Savage Reign and fatal fury 1.

How do they deal with the fact that they have the original SNK to live up to?

Tsk.

See there would be hundreds of questions I would ask SNK, however SNK-P really bores me and probably doesn't know anything about the ol SNK. However SNK-P are finally starting to release some good games on the atmioswave

LOL

In all fairness, SNK's apology for FF1 was...pretty much ever fighter they ever made until SNK/P took over (SSV unfixed/fixed/Special debacle, anyone?)

Or how about Metal Slug 6?

Man, but some of SNK/Proper's early stuff was such crap. Street Smart...and why did they recycle that star logo thing for Garou?

I really dont understand the hate of SNKP I still like there games and they have about the same ratio of crap to good games as the previous SNK. I think there are too many jaded SNK fans who don't give SNKP games a chance anymore. Not everygame can be a SS2.

That would be a good question though. What is your reponse to the hardcore SNK fans that now hate the new SNKP?

Hmm I didn't work that one very well.

SNK wasn't putting out crap games at the end of their run. Playmore is releasing lazy stuff like MS6. :(

On the plus side, I've got a PC version of MS5 that I wouldn't have gotten with the old SNK. Hooray!

If I remember right most of the staff stayed the same.
the persons I'm gonna speak to are there since 93 and 91.

and I think questions like "why do you guys suck? or why is xxx such a bad game" are not really helping.

Metal Slug 4, 5 and judging from the videos, 6, are all sweet games. How can anyone complain about more Slug? At least they're trying new gameplay components, rather than just make games that all play the same(like the first 3 slugs). And you can't even tell me that their Atomiswave stuff has been bad at all-I call it some of their best work.

Alsp, Sam Sho Special in any form is superior to any fighting game EITHER incarnation of SNK has never put out.

How about another Crystalis? Why wasn’t one made for the Neo Geo? Was there ever a plan that got scrapped?

Ask them to make a new disk based console or another handheld. :D

Two questions, but they may not be able to answer either as I don't think SNK was publisher for either of these:

What happened to the Twinkle Star Sprites sequel?

Second question:

Neo Mr. DO! WTF?*

For the record, I am the only person in the world who likes this game. Hell, I sprung for a minty fresh complete MVS kit, I like it so much. I just don't understand why it exists.

I would suggest to them that they continue to support the Atomiswave despite rumblings that it's on its way out.

Ok here are my serious question.

1. Is there any plan on releasing Neo Geo Battle Colliseum on and US console? If so when??

2. Have they thought of doing any compilation discs like All the Fatal Fury games or all earlier Metal Slug games or better yet the first 3 or 4 Samurai Showdowns with all blood and fatalites unlocked of course. These sort of compilations have been making some dough ie. Mega man collections, Capcom Classics, and Midway Arcade Treasures. An early Neo Geo game collection would be sweet. They do have Last Blade 1 and 2 for PS2 on one disc in Japan which is actually really good.

3. The US SNK Playmore web site seems to be lacking in content compared to the Japenese SNK Playmore site, can we get this fixed?

4. Not really a question but a comment. We all apprectiate the work you have done through out the years. (At least we are getting some games you know.)

How about developing sequels to more than KoF, Sam Shodown and Metal Slug?

Cheers,

I'd ask them why there still isn't an official English release of Samurai Shodown RPG. I'd probably follow up by asking who I'd have to "motivate" to green-light the project.

Yeah I would love to find out why they didn't release this here. SS was popular in the US so why no RPG?

Was that another one of those odd Korean ports, or is this a slightly less obscure version? Or are you merely speaking of emulation?

Fatal Fury was the first King of Fighters game. If it wasnt made then the series wouldnt exist. Just like how SF1 and how much everyone hated it but the reincarnation defined the 2D fighting genre.

When will MOTW 2 be released?

Can you release a SNK classics for the fans?

Do you have any openings?

I'd just want to ask them why the insist on making so many 1 on 1 tournament fighters? Give it a break already! Revive Sengoku, make more Run 'n Guns, and a sequel to Blazing Stars would be nice.

I'd also ask why they would want to stoop to the low level of pleasing the masses and going 3D and making non arcade mainstream titles. I heard they were getting out of the arcade business and focusing on the consoles and 3D games primarily.

As far as Sengoku I think Noise Factory did a better job with it, not bad from an all female group. And I don't think Yumekobo has made a game since 2000. But yes I would love to see a sequel to Blazing Stars.

SNK developed KOF 3D on their own, not because their fans demanded it. They were basically trying to revive something they did with the Hyper Neo 64 and hoped people would like it and it was taken well by the fans and now a sequel is due out soon.

Sengoku 2001 was crap.

Good suggestions so far; I'd like to see a Cyber-Lip 2, but the old SNK style has been dead for many years. A translation of the Samurai Spirits RPG would be awesome; I'd buy it (for more than a dollar!)

@ Jorpho:

It might be Taiwanese; been a while since I looked at the stickers but I think one was "junnet," a distributor group. It's got the official SNK/Playmore logo on it, so I don't have any reason to believe it's pirated.

I'd ask them for all the unreleased games for the Neo Geo Pocket Color. I can understand why they cancelled it... I just don't understand why they didn't mail me the stuff that was almost finished.

"Give them to me now!"

Sengoku 2001 was crap.

Right.

I'd ask them if they would consider releasing console ports for their game, similar to what Namco and Midway do these days. There's a TON of games that would benefit from that kind of release.

I liked Sengoku 2 the best but I liked some new features in 2001.

I want to know what ever became of Garou 2, why there hasn't been a Last Blade 3, and what were they thinking adding a fifth button to KOF.

I do wish they would release a SNK classics series, I would buy it.

And for the record I liked Street Smart.

I think MOTW2 and LB3 were both victims of SNK being put into bankruptcy.

Yes, some of the concepts were alright, but I thought the execution was bad overall.

I don't have access to my screenshots, but my complaints should still be understandable:

(Mostly) great character designs let down by limited moves and, at times, bad animation. Take the first boss - I don't actually remember what she does (I think it was some odd swaying back and forth), but it drives me up the wall. Of course, once you can switch to her, you don't get any of that seeming invincibility..."SNK boss syndrome" is in full swing.

The music is mediocre. Some games use compressed music (Last Blade 2's battlefield theme) well, but Sengoku 3/2001's doesn't sport any compositions that were interesting enough to warrant the tradeoff. Sengoku 1 and 2, by comparision, had very good (if sometimes cliche) pieces for drum (War Drum), and the first theme (Wild Beat) is a great composition.

The killer, though, is that the places you're fighting through aren't interesting at all. Come on - Italy, Japan, China, USA...?? This sounds like Double Dragon 3, not a Sengoku game. What's worse is that the art direction for backgrounds was completely uninspired.

At least it's not Street Smart. I've gotten a ways into it, to the trucker stage, but the animation there makes anything else in this thread look like freakin' Vampire Saviour...you don't even CONNECT with your enemies.

Regardless, SNK/P should really look into porting some of their older arcade games. Prehistoric Isle in 1930 and SAR - Search and Rescue both fell through the cracks with the release of the MVS. I don't know if SNK still has the capability to port older games to new hardware, but it'd be nice if they fixed up SAR a bit, at that.

Samurai Showdown RPG in English would have been nice, Mark of the Wolves 2 and LB3 as well. :(

Agreed. SNK used to make all sorts of great games, not just fighting games. Sure, they still make Metal Slug sequels, but everything else is fighting games. Do they plan to do anything else?

I would ask them if they plan anymore releases for the current gen consoles. (Xbox).
