Hey,
Has anybody ever had this problem before? It gets really annoying because I'd be playing an hour of Majora's Mask (A game where saving is hard to do), and then the game would reset for no apparant reason.
I recently stuck an expansion pack into it (not sure if it was a third party one). Could that be the problem?
Sometimes, I can play for hours without it resetting. But sometimes it resets after a couple minutes.
Thanks

The 3rd party expansion packs have a known history of overheating, causing the console to reboot. You can either leave the cover off of the expansion pack and have a fan running on it the entire time you use the n64, in which case your console may still reboot. Or you could just get an official nintendo expansion pack.

Turns out, its actually the official Nintendo expansion pack. I took it out, and replaced my origional jumper pack in there and I haven't had any problems.
Perhaps I stuck the expansion pack in there wrong or something?

The expansion pack will only go in one way,
maybe your expansion pack is faulty

The thing is, it was working for a while before I had any problems. I probably clocked about 20 hours of play on the N64 with the expansion pack in and nothing ever happened.
Then, one day, she just started turning off for some reason?

I'm gonna shoot for the obvious and easy and say to clean the connectors on the Expansion Pak. If you picked it up used who knows what it might have went through, as with carts, clean the connectors.

Any idea on how I should do that? My way of 'cleaning' is to blow on it as hard as I can :)

That's the absolute worst thing you can do, seriously. Either take a cotton sawb dipped in some isopropyl rubbing alcohol and shaken off and vigorously run it back and forth across the connectors of the expansion pak.

:shameful: Dang it, Jumpman, you said this before but I thought you were just joking. Even Nintendo knows how wrong that is!
Do not blow into your Game Paks or systems. The moisture in your breath can corrode and contaminate the pin connectors.

Meh LOL
I'll try to rub some alcohol onto it. Does beer count?

LOL Naturally, I was just kidding.
Thanks for the tip though bud. I played for about 2 hours today and had no problems. I was saving more than necessary though, because I wanted to make sure she didn't loose anything. ;)
