I'm gonna spend 100 bucks on a good router. I am running a mac mini but that doesn't matter. I just want something that won't drop off and be compatable to the NDS. I am getting the revolution when that gets released. Soooo wifi is the way to go. Don't care about the brand just want a good router that the NDS wifi system can pick up people to play against fast. The official list has changed several times on Nintendo's website.

I currently use a D-Link router. The model I believe is a DI-524, it's never dropped me when I used my friends laptop in school and the DS accepted it without a snag, its about 2 years old though so there is probably something better. Hope this helps.

Every brand of networking equipment has it's quirks, so it's finding one that best suits your needs.

If you're in the mood to drop that cash, I'd go with a Netgear Rangemax. 99% of what I use at work is Netgear (I've had problems with D-Link and Linksys), and it's all that I use at home and at clients that I have set up. Never had a problem here, except with range... hence the reason that I recommend the rangemax product.

I own a Linkseys BEFW11s4. It's fine but it drops my internet..ALOT. I can hook it up, it will run my DSL and NDS. Then sometimes it just drops.... I then rehook the DSL line directly.
Also why does it take so long to get a wifi match w/ Mario Kart?

Believe it or not, I think that's normal. That's one of the reasons I got rid of MKDS.

I use the Linksys WRT54GS. Works fine with my DS. Don't get the WRT54G version 5, though. It sucks ass. If you must get the G, find an earlier version. I was unable to, so I had to spend the extra money and get the GS.

Is the DS WEP only?

The DS is WEP or unprotected only. Which is the majority of wireless connections by far.

I use a Linksys router which are made by Cisco, and Cisco IS the internet. I have a WRT54GS, I got right on and started playing. The only hitch was I had to refresh my IP twice to start.

I have a Linksys WRT54G V.3 and have never been able to finish a race on wifi. The connection is lost, the screen locks up and the useless error message doesn't represent the actual problem. I hate Nintendo wifi. My router is even one of their rare, "5-star" routers that (according to Nintendo) is the most compatible with the DS...not even close.

You seriously need an IT degree to figure out advanced router settings. The whole thing has ruined my interest in anything DS wifi-related.

I have an older D-Link and I could not get it to work until I searched a bunch of different forums and found out that I just had to change something small on my router configuration.

And, you can get a good router for much less than what you are willing to spend. You should go to http://www.dealnews.com, look for a good/cheap router and then do some research to see what other DS users say about it.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm not at all keen on putting an unsecured wireless router on my internet connection so that I can provide Internet access to all my neighbors. I may go with wireless for my house, but I think I'm going to be getting that Nintendo USB device so that my DS can go wireless from time to time.

I was hoping that the DS Lite would support 802.11g and WPA. Does anyone know if any changes like this have been made?

I currently use WEP with MAC filtering just so my DS can get on. I'm just going on the hope that my neighbors aren't computer or wifi savvy, cause anyone who knows about wifi knows WEP is now a joke.

I don't think my neighbor can connect with my wireless router since it took a final dump on me. Besides it's a b not a g or higher. He would have to camp out in my back yard to connect to the net!

Linksys blows. Avoid them at all costs. Crap. Just pure crap.

I have a Netgear wg614v6 (who the hell thinks up these names?). It works great so far - I got it a few days ago. Working great with the DS, and a mix of Macs and PCs. I had to upgrade the firmware once I got it to be able to use the DS - but once I did all is well. The firmware upgrade only took 30 seconds though.

This router replaced a dlink model that was on the nintendowifi site list as incompatible. It also has sever other problems which led me to ditch it.

I personally really like Netgear also. Maybe a bit more money than the others, but it is rock solid in performance.
