I'm assuming those are all PAL only games. Man they all look really poor. LOL

"Girl Zone" well that sounds like a classic.

I honestly didnt know there were PS2 collectors.

It's wrong of me, but I want to try every one of those games. Shoot (http://www.phoenixgamesgroup.com/uk/games/shoot.html) in particular looks like a true classic. Just the title alone oozes originality.

We boast the shortest time required from development to product release in the industry. Ordinarily the average development period for a game is 18 months, whereas Phoenix need a mere 3-5 months.

It looks like it. But I still want to try their games.

I want Hamster Ball. I want it in NTSC, right now.

God damnit, where did I leave that lamp with the geanie in it? :(

Much like Ninjabread Man, I really want to import it but it'd probably cost way more than it's worth :(

Well, all of you PAL people need to wait a couple months, and if these dont show up everywhere as budget titles, then buy every last one of them. Sit on them for 10 years. And profit.

The people who say they want to play these games are probably also the people who would willingly go to see the movie Battlefield Earth...and then count the days until it's DVD release... :D

I'll have you know that... that's true. I actually went to see it in the cinema, I was one of three people in there. Then I bought the DVD at full price. The film, with its cardboard cut-out cows, is legendary.

I would buy every single one of those as well. Those are all future rarities there. Seriously, get 'em while they're cheap. What have you got to lose if they don't become rarities?

I think they had ps1 titles as well. Are those collectable? That would be my gauge.

Are any of those Simple 2000 games? They usually get similarly lame titles.

Bojay1997
02-24-2006, 02:00 AM
I collect PAL stuff, but with the exception of Habitrail which actually has a license attached to it, I wouldn't touch the rest of those games. Companies like Midas and now 505Gamestreet are releasing some really obscure and interesting budget titles, including many of the better Simple 2000 games. Phoenix has been at E3 in Kentia Hall the last few years and it is clear that this is just an attempt to cash in as the games have little or no play or production values. They remind me of those $1 DVD movies at Walmart. You might buy one to try it, but once you realize how poor the quality is, you never buy them again.

Games by Phoenix stuff is usually original developed stuff (with a coupple of exceptions like Road Rage 3 which is actually the Cave developed Touge 3 (http://ps2.ign.com/articles/136/136765p1.html)). If you read the company profile you will see that the development time for a typical game is just 3 to 5 months.

C64, Spectrum and Amstrad owners will probaly recognise this cover. I don't know if the game has anything to do with Joe Blade 2 (no screenshots yet) or if they just reused the cover. JB2 wasn't that good to begin with, here is the Zzap!64 review. (http://www.zzap64.co.uk/cgi-bin/displaypage.pl?issue=44&page=42)

And the Dead Eye Jim cover was used on Outlaw for the C64. Wondering if Phoenix are actually the old Players or not.

We're having a discussion about this over at NTSC-UK and it's pretty much exactly the same. WTF with the artwork?! LOL

http://www.phoenixgamesgroup.com/images/packshots/animalsoccerworldbig.jpg

Aside from blatently cribbing off Bedknobs and Broomsticks, they is so much wrong going on, it's unbelievable... comments include:

- hasn't the lion just kicked the gorilla in the nads?
- warthog is getting the old "reach around" technique performed
- pig is so getting goosed
- rhino looks like it's up for some
- bird is pulling some bollocks from its beak

I believe the artist must be having a laugh, he couldn't have seriously drawn this LOL

Actually i have seen a number of those games in shops around here. (and i even own a few of them). Needless to say the quality is fairly low, but then again, the prices of the games are too.

If you want more of these check here -> http://www.505gamestreet.com/

I now know where the US TG16 box art people went to work.

And I doubt they could get away with this one in the states...

I remember a while back Disney was suing the pants off everyone making knock off merch.

I played a few budget games, some are mildly entertaining. But for that low price you cant really expect to get a game with the same quality as Shadow of the Colossus.

I like the philosophy. Is it true average game time is 1.5 yrs? Thought it was closer to 3-4 years (thinks of Ico and Zelda WW)!

This game looks cool: http://www.phoenixgamesgroup.com/images/packshots/hamsterballbig.jpg

The Retro game looks like fun, it's got a Tron light cycles rip-off and a game called Roids. They look like Flash games. As do most of the Dynamite 100 games. The fact that they did an Eye Toy game shows how popular the Eye Toys are in Europe.

And yeah, Disney would kick their asses for the Dalmatians 3 and Son Of The Lion King games.

LOL All of these games look like crap! "Mighty Mulan"? "Dalmations 3"? "Toys Room"? "Son of the Lion King"? "Countryside Bears"? Will somebody please call Disney? "Mouse Police"? Will somebody call Namco? Most of these games aren't even games. They are just puzzles, matching games, and "colouring books". I pity the kid that gets one of these games for a gift. I think we've found some games crappier than Action 52! (By the way, did you see "Empire of Atlantis"? You know a game company is desperate when they copy an unlicensed NES game!)
