Are there any video mods that can be done with a Genesis 3? I've always heard that the video signal is horrible. I love the fact that the thing is so tiny. I understand that RGB and S-Video is out of the question, but I was wondering if there is anything else that could be done?

Also, does it use the same Video cable that the Genny 2 uses? Or is it different?

One last Genesis 3 question..... Is it safe to use a Genesis Model 2 power adapter with the Genny 3?

S-Video can be done to a Gen3. It can use the same PSU as a Genny2.

The Gen3 can also sport some 6 button controller weirdness with some games. It's a nice cute unit, but essentially it's technically inferior.

Has there been a definitive answer as to whether it even supports stereo output?

I dont use my Genny 3 very often, but it sure did seem like I was getting stero, as in an object moving across the screen and the sound moving from one side to the other with it, but it has been a long time and i could be wrong. I do know for sure that you can use Genesis 2 stero RCA cables on the thing.

Another pro with the Genesis 3 is that it has an import-friendly cartridge slot so you don't have to pull out the mini rotary tool and grind it wider for import games. It's also REALLY easy to mod for both US/JPN and 50Hz/60Hz, although it's a little tighter to get the switches in.

As for the power specifications I think it used a unique adapter but don't quote me on that - I haven't had a Genesis 3 for years. My main gripe was that it was too light and was easily pulled down off the table / shelf / entertainment center via the controller cord.

So, is the S-Video a really true, legit S-Video? If I can get a S-Video video signal and a stereo sound output, then I would be cool with actually keeping one of these around. I just like the fact that it's so damn tiny.

It's easy to get s-video from a genny 3, just need to connect the wires, no components needed. I've always read the audio is mono only though.
The power plug is the standard one, you can use gen-2 or CDX supplies to power it (don't try going the other way around though).
No support for 32x, PBC, or genesis Virtua Racing, the gen3 had a cheap and dirty combined chipset.
