My brother just got one of the red Mario Kart DS bundles so wants me to sell his old DS which is working fine but has one dead pixel on the top screen. I don't know how it would do on ebay and am afraid I will get a soccer mom buying it for her kid that has no idea what a dead pixel is. Or some other ebay genius that bids on auctions without reading descriptions (happening a lot lately). I just don't want to create a problem for myself or the buyer.
Anyway, just looking for opinions on what you think I should do....or, what would you do in this situation. I called Gamestop and they give $50 store credit or $40 cash. I'm not sure what a DS with a dead pixel will do on ebay.

You could always try to sell it here on DP... You should be able to get more than $50 even with a single dead pixel. Just make sure it's accurately described when you list it.

I second that comment. Gamestop will just take it and sell it for $90 or $100 used anyway!

Is it less than a year old? If it's still under warrenty, Nintendo will repair it for free! They'll even send you a prepaid mailer! The won't do a trade for just a dead pixel, but I had both a dead pixel and a speaker problem. They sent me (at least what looked like) a brand new ds that was in perfect condition and I sent them my scratched up DS with a dead pixel and bad speaker!

I have had a few come into my store that had problems and i call nintendo and see if its under warr. If it is i give them my credit card number and they mail me a new one in a few days. So far they have all been the silver that I got form them. Then in the same box I return the broke one and they never even bill my card. I guess If I mailed one in that was trashed i might get it back with a big charge added to my card.

I wish it was under warranty but I checked and it isn't. My brother actually bought it off of ebay a while back and from what I can tell, it was bought somewhere that doesn't automatically register it with Nintendo when it's sold. See, if you buy a DS at Target, Walmart or a place like that, it automatically gets registered with Nintendo at the time of purchase. Such is not the case with this DS.
I have thought of putting it on ebay and right in the title stating about the dead pixel, in addition to the description of course. That way it's right out there, first thing you see, nothing to hide. I'm sure many people can easily overlook the dead pixel and be perfectly happy with it. I am one of the weird-o's that wouldn't be able to stand it, my eyes are drawn to it and it invades my gameplay.
