It's all about the crash mode.

I would go to http://www.cheapassgamer.com/ if you want some good deals. It's looking like Gamecrazy is going to have a sale starting on 3/03/06 with God of War and Gran Turismo 4 being $20. I also remember seeing some interesting games on clearance at Sears. Like Mortal Kombat: Deception LE for $17, I think.

Burnout 3

It's all about the crash mode.

Burnout 3 is a great game, but 4 is even better, and since it's only $10 more than three, price really isn't an issue. Though I suppose if you wait it'll drop down to $20

Other greats

Star Ocean: Till the end of Time
Tales of Symphonia
Animal Crossing
Pikmin
Metroid Prime
Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition
Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour

Ah Virtua Fighter 4, now there was a game I lost many, many, many hours to. Thanks for the link, I always mean to check out CheapAssGamer but never get around to it.

Champion of Norrath: Realms of Everquest (PS2) seems to be a gignormous game. If you like stuff like Diablo, then I'd give it a go. It's a greatest hit now. I'm about three hours in, it seems solid. Repetious, but goddamn was I ever glued to the screen.

ICO for the ps2 was $10 or $15 at Walmart back in December and it is one awesome game.

Rygar for the ps2 was about the same price, and it is also a very good game.

Both are very underrated, even though ICO is starting to get more attention these days.

Today they were selling Virtua Fighter 4 new at Best Buy for $9.99, so I just had to pick it up.

Considering the last fighter I purchased was Soul Calibur... the first one. For dreamcast. Around 2000... yeah, I've been a bit behind the times to say the least, but this definitely seems pretty cool so far.

I've also recently picked up Resident Evil 4, of which the gamecube version is going for $19.99 now, not to mention the aforementioned Devil May Cry, Kingdom Hearts, Sly Cooper 1 & 2, the Ratchet & Clank series(which I have yet to get, but I hear enough about them to make me want to check them out)...

If you're just now getting around to picking up titles for modern consoles like I am, you're in luck. There are so many "classics"(to the respective consoles themselves anyway) available for 20 bucks or less, it's an optimal time to play catch-up.

Just about any game that made Greatest Hits, Player's Choice, etc. is a fairly safe bet.

I just picked up RE4 also for $20. I second Katamari Damacy.

Castlevania SOTN can often be had at Blockbuster for $15. Final Fantasy Tactics, Gradius V, Rogue Leader...

I see this thread spiraling into a comprehensive Greatest Hits list :)

I see the good deals but don't know which games are any good? Don't like buying crap no matter how cheap it is.
Time is more valuable than money.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions.

First off, do you have an xbox? I see you have a gamecube and PS2.

So take down the names of the games off of the site, and google for reviews on them. Read over a few of them to get a general idea where the game stands.

This actually works very well for me.

Fight Night Round 2 is a great game if you like boxing but Round 3 just came out and I actually didn't think they could top Round 2 and they did.

Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader.

I have put over 50 hours into that game. So much better than the third one. (On foot missions suck!)

I continue to pimp Alien Hominid, not only because it's a 2-D game in a 3-D world, but because it's absoultely addictive and fun. Though it's probably a bit hard to find now, you can find it for under twenty smackers.
