I have everything set up for my PS2 to go online: The adapter, the DSL box, the ethernet cable, the settings for online on the memory card, and an online ready game in the PS2, wich is Burnout 3.
So, i try to connect, and it gets as far as "Connecting to EA Server" Or something like that. Then it says something like "A connection timeout has occured. do you want to retry?"
I could use some help. I never have played videogames online before, so i'm new to this.

First off, do you have a router ? How are you connecting?

I do not have a router. And how do you mean "how are you connecting?" If you mean how i made the connection on the memory card, I used the online disc that came with my PS2 (Mine was a 2004 online bundle with ATV Offroad fury 2) And later, i used the Manual Connection instead of Automatic. Automatic wouldn't work.

ok, then you need to enter in your DSL account info
(username password) into the setup, its the PPOE, info, you did that?

Already done that. It's all set up, it's just that i can't get online. As i said before, On Burnout 3 it gets as far as "Connecting to EA Server", but then it says "The connection timed out"
I regret that i could not reply sooner. I was delayed.

no problem, you have your account info all in there, and the RJ-45 cable ( the big phone jack looking thing) from the DSL, goes to the back of the PS2, have you tried the TEST CONNECTION utility from the PS2 network disk?

After i set up all of it, I tested it, and it worked. This was on manual settings, keep in mind - After it is all saved on the memory card, I try to play Burnout 3 online. It gets as far as "Connecting to EA Server" But then, As said before, It says "The connection timed out"
Yes, the DSL box is set up to the PS2, and all the connections are Good. i'm sure of that.

ok, do you have another title to test, it could be the crappy EA servers.

The only other PS2 game i have that is compatible online is ATV Offroad Fury 2. i tried it, and it didn't work either.

ok, both don't work, but the test, comes back connected, how long have you tried? did you try a few times each, or more, I am semi-stumped right now.

Those are both old games and are probably not supported anymore.

"I am so behind in the times"
And as for how long i have tried, i haven't tried very long. I'll go try again, now.

OK, i tried again, and it still won't work. I'm going to assume that the games aren't supported anymore.
I will buy another PS2 online compatible game sometime, (Fairly new) And if it doesn't work online, something is definately wrong here.

I just tried PS2 Burnout 3 on-line, and the servers are still up. There were only like 3 people logged on, but I was able to connect. Sounds like something else is the problem.

you could try renting one rather than pay for a game that won't work

Thanks for suggesting it. Problem is, my local rental store doesn't have any PS2 games that i want to rent, so it looks like i'll have to buy one.
