"Why won't you just die?!" - Colour me confused on such a... crazy title. Acclaim may just be a 'name' to us, but there are people behind this name who, I'm guessing, just want to make video games.
Good luck to them.

why anyone would want to keep the name is beyond me. Being one of the worst licensed game makers (IMO) producing shovel ware by the ton. is not a name I would want my company to be known for.

There was some game they were working on that had a lot good press... can't remember the name of it now, but it was supposed to be really good. It would be nice if they resurrected it.
The Red Star, that's what it was (http://games.teamxbox.com/xbox/812/The-Red-Star/). It had a lot of promise. It's too bad it didn't make it to market.

maybe we should start a fund pool, and buy the rights to the game and hand it to a publisher/distributor.
i was actually wonder if i could do that with really obscure games from defunct companies. there are quite a few beat 'em ups i would like to release on compilation discs or something.

Time for a Steel Empire 2 online petition. LOL

They weren't all bad, although admittably a lot of their titles were bottom of the barrel material, ala BMX XXX. A second chance is deserved.
But they were important to Nintendo, or? (according to Game Over, the book)
First third party NES developer in USA?
Weren't they formed from ex-Activision employers?

At least I'll remember them together with Turok 1, one of the finest FPS on the N64 next to Goldeneye and Perfect Dark.

They just need to bring out The Red Star. Seriously.

they also ported some great midway games during the 16 bit era (MK, NBA Jam), and published some decent games from japan like Darius Gaiden for the Saturn.
they were nowhere near the level of Froggo on the 2600

I say good luck to acclaim, they will need it.

I did like Wrestlemania The Arcade Game though, one of my favorite wrestling games IMO.

I'll never forget Total Recall for the NES. And by that I mean recalling the frustration and profanity that spew from my young mouth trying to finish that turd of a game.
And yet, strangely enough, I look back fondly.
I dunno, there was alot of their stuff on the N64 that I liked. I second the original Turok game. Spent lots of time running around with those cool weapons. The tech bow with the poison arrow was good for a laugh.

Why does it matter who makes the game as long as its fun?

I remember Acclaim more for theier brazenly stupid marketing techniques. It's like some company from 2008 naming themselves Infinium Labs.

The only great thing I found about em was just the turok games only thats it I wonder sometimes why people take acclaim as a high profile company , but I guess its just casual gamers.

They published Bust-A-Move 4 for Dreamcast, my personal favorite in the series.

Hey, I hope that they will still be bringing out the Legend of Wrestling games. Even though they weren't really that great and had some problems with them, they are still really cool for the roster. Sadly, the third one was horrible and they were using the roster alone to sell the game, and they didn't bother with anything else like bug testing.

Crazy you just bumped this, because the MMO beta testing started today. I'm under a NDA, so I cant really say much. Once thats lifted, I'll tell you if Ack, lame is infact, still lame.

I'm offering my beta testing log-in for BOTS (check the Modern Gaming section). I'll give it to anyone, just PM me and it's yours (just you might have to change your e-mail address if it's possible).
EDIT: It's gone.

Yeah, that's how I found this thread. I saw the other one and I decided to search and see if anyone had any other info on Acclaim coming back. I'm excited to see if they are any better or not.

Juiced is pretty good. I'm glad that THQ picked that one up when Acclaim dropped the ball on it. But then that game wasn't actually being developed by Acclaim, it was just to be published by Acclaim. Maybe that's why it's pretty good.
