One time I was at a thrift and I found a Lynx system, with the Car Adapter and the AC Adapter and like 10 games. I thought it was an incredible score, but it seems that "loose" Lynx games are worth very little. I took a look on Ebay, and most of the Lynx games on there are brand new, and even the brand new ones don't sell for much. I'm sure there are a few rare Lynx games, that might go for some decent money brand new, but it definitely appears as though the vast majority of loose Lynx games aren't worth much.

I was going to try to sell all this lynx stuff, cause if I'm going to play a portable, I would rather just play my PSP, but with it not really being worth much of anything, I guess I might as well keep it and start collecting loose Lynx games. Shit, might as well if they are that damn cheap.

For any Lynx experts that might be out there, this is my collection of Lynx games, they are all just the loose card, what would this collection of Lynx stuff be worth? (I actually thought it was worth like $70 when I bought it for like $20!!!) Of course, I didn't know a damn thing about the value of Lynx stuff.

1. Atari Lynx system - Model 1 - includes Lynx System, car adapter and AC Adapter -
2. Awesome Golf - loose game card
3. Baseball Heroes - loose game card
4. Dracula: The Undead - loose game card
5. Gauntlet - loose game card
6. Hard Drivin' - loose game card
7. Hydra - loose game card
8. Rampage - loose game card
9. Rygar - loose game card
10. Shanghai - loose game card
11. Tournament Cyberball - loose game card
12. Warbirds - loose game card
13. Xenophobe - loose game card
14. Xybots - loose game card

Are there any loose Lynx games that are expensive, besides the super rare? Cause if not, I might as well start working on a complete collection if they are that cheap.

For the amount of stuff you got (including a system with the adapters), you made about a $45 - $50 score for $20 and besides, the Lynx is a great system. You've got some great games too.

5. Gauntlet - loose game card

Great fun if you get a few people playing with comlynx cables.

7. Hydra - loose game card

Many don't like this port... then again, where else are you going to play it on a system outside of the arcade?

9. Rygar - loose game card

Again, the only true arcade port outside of the arcade until very recently.

14. Xybots - loose game card

Classic through and through, I could play this for hours. LOL

You might also want to check out the ports of Paperboy and S.T.U.N. Runner which are excellent - also has an exceptional version of KLAX. A lot of games can be picked up boxed complete in lot auctions on eBay for $10 - $15 for 8-10 games. Checkered Flag (especially if you can get four or so people playing at once - support for up to 8) and Blue Lightning are also great and far better than the Jaguar versions... which in their own right aren't as bad as many make them out to be. Grab the Lynx port of California Games too if you happen to see it.

There are several more expensive Lynx games. They're a combination of rarity and desirability though. Battle Wheels, Battlezone, and Lemmings come to mind. All excellent games. I'd say that Battle Wheels and Battlezone are common but desirable...and Lemmings is somewhat rare...but still excellent and desirable.

Point is, Lynx is great, and you should really collect for it. At around 70 games, one could easily get the entire library...and also be treated to EXCELLENT games. It's one of my favorite handhelds. Get some rechargable batteries and it's fun for ages.

I thought the classic arcade ports were well done. Chip's Challenge is a fun puzzle game, and I like Rampart on the Lynx better than the NES version. I also highly recommend S.T.U.N. Runner, it's a great game.

If you look around a bit, you should be able to get some boxed games for 5 bucks.

The Lynx is a neat little system, I say keep it. I picked up a Lynx 2, a few games, a charger and carrying case for $35. Sure, compared to the newer handhelds it’s a dinosaur but it’s cheap and fun to play.

I completely forgot about the Lynx version of Rampart - it's great for passing a few minutes.. or hours.

I was playing it quite a bit here and there when I first got it, and I really do like it, I did a post about it some time ago. I'm going to go ahead and keep it. It's probably the only retro handheld that I can get into.

Although I should probably get a GameBoy Color too. I had a Game Gear for awhile with a bunch of games, but ultimately, it didn't really float my boat. As for the original GameBoy, I just can't get into black and white games, period. Actually black and white would be an upgrade, it's really just a freaking gray scale. I just can't hang with that.

So you are saying that a black and white TV looks just like a GameBoy? The number of shades of gray that the Gameboy could do was limited, so it's not like you could watch black and white TV on the Gameboy.

Regardless of the number of levels of gray, all B+W screens display in grayscale. The only exception being older monochrome displays.

I never said it was as good as B+W television. Not sure how you read that in my post.

Wasn’t the original Gameboy was a LCD screen? It was black over green. The black could be lighter or darker but really, not close to grayscale.

dude, if you ever liked the look and sound of shadow of the beast but couldn't play it becasue it was so damn hard -- the version on the lynx is just as beutiful and is beatable (atleast for me ) -- out of all the games i have played this one was the most impressive on the lynx for me

I would suggest that you get one with a Master Gear adapter for playing SMS games. Significantly increases the library of playable games.

Anyways the Turbo Express is the best handheld...well I like it...

The Game Gear Screen is still crap though, which is the reason why I personally never cared for it - too bad since GG games through emulation on the Dreamcast are fun.

Now there's a handheld with a great screen, while everyone else was messing around with crappy cheap passive displays NEC went and used an active matrix TFT. :)

I got a set of a Lynx 1 and 2 Lynx 2(ones broken) plus 18 games for a trade of a 800XL that I got for $8. I did get ripped of on Hydra, Steel Talons and Kung Food though. The best part is flipping the display around when your so use to it the other way, and thier is no other system / controller that you can do that on.

I'll also throw my vote in for Wonderswan over the Lynx. Not that the Lynx is bad. But theyre different beasts, both pretty excellent.

Yeah, the Turbo Express is kinda like the Neo-Geo AES of old school handhelds. It did have an excellent screen, and a incredible lineup. Too bad you need to have a Japanese one too, cause there are so many great PC Engine hu cards too.

There are a number of reasons why I don't have a Turbo Express right now.

1. cost - Don't these things cost like $120 or more? I'm talking about getting one in good condition, with power supply. Kinda pricey for a old school portable.

2. Can't play my PC Engine hu cards on it. (well, no practical way of doing it...anyways)

3. My PSP can emulate TG-16/PC Engine stuff pretty damn good. Much bigger screen too.

4. I'm always hearing people talking about some kind of problem with their Turbo Express. Power Supply problems, screen problems, etc, etc. It's a very pricey old school portable, and if I'm paying that much money for one, I would be absolutely furious if it had any of these problems I'm always hearing about.

Of course, I would still like a Turbo Express. I do have quite a few U.S. Hu cards, so it's not like I wouldn't have any games to play on it. Right now, I kinda have this fantasy where I find one at a flea market or pawn shop for a really cheap price. ( I know....it's okay to dream)

Ok the WonderSwan slipped my mind, since I don't have one.
