She isnt a gamer & she likes cute things. I was going to get her Animal Crossing but I hear you have to play it every day or your characters will die.
If theres a DS game out there that involves detective work, she would like that.
She enjoys Mario 64 DS but I think Mario & Yoshis cute voices have something to do with it.
Whatever we choose, it cant be too high strung, it should be (at least a little) cute, and it cant require really precise jumping. She always has a problem with that in Mario 64. It should offer a challenge though so no Barbie dress-up games. :P
I'm considering Feel The Magic: XY/XX.

Your characters don't die at all in AC :) Some move away, some move in. The worst thing that'll happen is you'll have some weeds in your town. I recommend it for a non gamer.

Can't go wrong with puzzle games like Zoo Keeper, Meteos, the upcoming Tetris game, etc.

Phoenix Wright(if you can find it) wouldn't be a bad choice, either.

Super Princess Peach has surely got to be a contender? Classic Nintendo platforming, with the loveable Princess at the helm, and it is nice and easy for new gamers.

Can't go wrong!

I bought Trauma Center for myself, and as soon as my girl saw me playing it, she wanted to try it. Since then I haven't seen my DS much, she has put hours and hours into that game and she's not much of a gamer.

yep... nintendogs is the way to go... it's like a dumbed-down version of animal crossing, really. less to do, less to take care of, less to worry about... very cute... fun if and when you invest the time, but no major consequences for not playing. no jumping required. easy to control, since it's all intuitive touch screen control. sounds exactly like what you're looking for.

yeah I gotta second that, also feel the magic and rub rabbits are two good games that chicks might get into, my wife did, so I am going off that.

If reflexes are an issue, I suggest Polarium. The puzzle mode is basically turn based so you can take all the time in the world. I got it for my mom.

I just got a DS, and I'm a girl, so I'll pipe in:
Nintendogs is by far the best game in the history of the world...ever! ;)

Also, Puyopop Fever, Bust A Move DS, Battleship/Monopoly/Boggle/Yahtzee combo.

On suggestions from this board, I bought Trauma Center, Meteos, and Zoo Keeper, but I haven't played those yet.

I'm sorry, but this is really a no-brainer given the description:

nintendogs
Also, the lady above me has an interesting username! I can't say it three times fast though...

My girlfriend really enjoyed Trace Memory; it has a definite "solving a mystery" feel to it. She also had some fun with Lost In Blue, though she tired of that faster than I did.

Thank you for all the replies. How much does the game play of Phoenix Wright have in common with Sprung?

Basically, they're both text-based games, with graphics acting as illustrations to the story.

Also, Phoenix Wright is much better than Sprung. It's like comparing courtroom dramas(i.e. The Practice, L.A. Law) with vapid WB teenybopper programming (i.e. The OC, One Tree Hill).

Ignore him, he can't read and is bitter. Plus, its obvious he isn't good with the hook ups.

I've been using Sprung as a good bathroom game. Seriously, I can pick up and go anytime....while pooping.

I tried the same thing & I still don't like Sprung. I used to play Booty Call for free...Sprung should have cost $5 new.

definitely Nintendogs if it doesn't necessarily MUST be a "game" per se.

If she wants a cute game then go for Super Princess Peach.
