A letter in the latest issue of Digital Press made me think of this topic. In what games is your objective to move your character/vehicle over terrain, "painting" it behind you?

I'll start the list:

Amidar
Bounty Bob Strikes Back
City Connection
Make Trax
Miner 2049er
Pepper II

(PS This is my first thread about video games in like a year!)

TRON!

Your goal isn't really to paint the screen with your walls.. it's to blow up people with your walls.

Then I guess Snafu: INTV wouldnt be included either. Yeah, if the objective was to see how much you could paint before you died then it would be what hes asking for. ic.

The Mario Party games have some that usually involve the opposite of "painting." The only one that comes to mind right now is one where you attempt to mow away as much grass as possible.

Police Trainer 2 (arcade game) also has a minigame where you are supposed to remove graffiti.

I remember an arcade they had at a place called the Kilpatrick Center in Oklahoma. (some kind of museum) I think it was called Lawnmower or something. I remember having to mow the lawn without running over passing balls & pets. Something like that.

I wouldn't couldn't count Tron type games for the reason mentioned. I originally wasn't going to count Qix type games either, but now I'm not sure. It's a pretty subtle difference.

How did I forget that one! (also on Genesis)

TRAFFIC JAM on the Tomy Tutor! You objective is to cover all the streets in the city with the blue streak left behind your car while avoiding the three enemy cars. However the enemy cars can also turn into steamrollers that remove parts of the street you have already covered. Great game on a terribly underrated piece of vintage technology.

Every game for the Sega Pico inclues a paint game.

And Hammy forgot:
Qix Neo: PS1

Mario Paint (c'mon somebody had to)

I wouldn't even know what you mean if you hadn't mentioned City Connection. But what about that game Worm? The one where you are a worm and can't run into yourself but you leave a trail behind you. It was on some old cellphone games and old PC games, and I'm sure it dates way back before that (under different names I'm sure). Does that count?

If used in the strict sense of painting [and not the idea of leaving a trail behind], the DS has quite a few titles like that, such as Warioware: Touched, and Feel the Magic.

Surely Q*Bert would fall in this category.

A paticular favourite of mine is a game from th Amstrad CPC464 called "Harvey Headbanger", where you have to crawl around and "Circle" your oponent with your own colour. each "Square" you pass through turns to your colour, whilst at the same time, your opponent is chasing after you turning yours into their colour.

1st Stage in Flintstones on the C64, Amiga and ZX Spectrum. You had to paint the wall before Wilma gets back home, but the problem is Pebbles keeps crawling out of her crib and tagging the walls. Then you had to paint over it.

Not sure if this counts, but in Crash Bash (PS1) there is a stage where you are all on pogo sticks and have to turn squares into your colour and "Bank" them, meanwhile, other players are colouring over your squares to gain points

How about the "Paint" mini-game on Legend of the Mystical Ninja (Not to mention it also has the best version of video Whack-a-mole I've ever played :D )?
