Anyone playing Rome Total War?

My friends keep telling me I have to play this game, but I've never really been into strategy games. So do you think RTW would be a good one to start off with?

I'm pretty sure it's very complex. I haven't really played all that much of the Total War series, but it's not really for a strategy noob.

I'd suggest buying Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War or Age of Mythology for an introduction to the genre.

I wish I could go and try them all out, but I'll stick with picking up RTW because I just found out about the Gold Edition. It has both the game and an expansion pack in one bundle. Seems like too good of a deal to pass up. Thanks for the suggestions though.
