Most games work perfect (100+) but around about 5 of them will not even boot past the sega logo, the furthest is the second 'stop', for example the "press a to continue without memory card" screen.

Now i've searched and found that a scratched or dirty disk can cause this, but these disks are mint. No trace of problem at all, I even removed the mod chip that I inserted to try and make them work (no idea why my logic made me do this)

The games effected are: Virtua Fighter 3tb, Buzz Lightyear, House of the dead 2, chu chu rocket, and Plasma sword.

Any ideas?

P.S. I just bought another copy of VF3tb and also has the problem.

Try them on another Dreamcast.

I only have one, but I'll see what I can do. I don't think it's the dreamcast, as all disks would do this. It's only a few select games, and ALL copies of these select games.

then it is the dreamcast, possibly the version of the hardware or something, probably not something you can do much about, did they ever work?

They have never worked on this particular Dreamcast, no.

ok, problem solved. I gave the lense a good clean, and now it loads them up great. Still funny that only certain games would do this.

that is strange, but good that they work all the same:)

Some games do that. I've gone through about three copies of Quake III that simply refused to boot - all neat and clean and shiny. Apparently Sega acnowledged that there had been a batch of duff GD-ROM discs early in the system's life, that you could send back for a free replacement (that EGM apparently ran a full two-page spread on, then go on to ignore the PS2's rampant DRE problem aaaaargh). All you can really do is ... uh, buy another copy. :/
