What do you think about it, real? Well, the price was pretty good anyway, so why not take a chance...again?

wtf? how is that a good price if it is not a real proto?
I say its not real. the label just says wario's woods (no other indicators on the labels such as "return to xxxxxx" or a rev number or date, and from the pic it looks like that label is one of those plastic based thermal labels used at kmart and walmart on the shelves (a more modern type of label, I used them when i worked there) and the font even looks like a more modern windows based font. more modern than ca1991 anyway (guessing the release year). Most labels back then were paper based and printed on with a dot matrix printer or typewriter or print press (the latter one for mass printings)
Now, by no stretch of the imagination am I an expert, but I'm going to say most definitely not. Even with my novice collector eyes it looks fishy.

Proto labels doesn't always have "Return to" etc., those seems to be more on sample copies, from what I've seen. But I'll wait and see. Ofcourse I'll get pissed (on myself) if it's a fake...

Most you can only tell if this is real or not, when you see the board itself.
So you must open it and then you can see it. Or when its heavier then a retail game it can be a Prototype.
It can be a real one, but it can too be a selfmade lable. Who knows? @_@

I noticed it for sale. But I thought it was a fake. You got a good deal if it is real in my opinion. If I thought it was real I would have bought it.

I was looking at that earlier today...
Here's my thoughts on the thing. I've seen a real proto for wario's woods. The label was the same you've seen on all the other real protos. Paper from a dot matrix, more to the point, it had a hole in the case for the eprom... My guess is that this is fake, but there is no way to tell until you get it.
BTW, the real proto sold for $120

So it's not this one?

The guy who listed it didn't stress how rare it *might* be, and if he wanted to make a buck on it, he would have set a higher price, and at least mentioned ANYTHING about it in the description. Also that you could submit your best offer, makes me 50/50 about it.
I get a feeling (hope really) that the guy doesn't know the value of protos. He's into records as well, if that would make it better. LOL
But maybe he had an ordinary WW game with torn label and replaced it with this to sell it for more, or that he got a fake cart from someone..the cart looks quite clean though.
No more speculation from me. I'll let you know what it is in a week or two.

Sorry to say it, but i dont think this is a proto. The sticker looks too new and its not a "normal" sticker. You will find out easy when you get it tho. Just open and see.
Can also be a samplecart tho, but.. you will find out fast when u get it :)

Reviewer copy, not a proto, still cool and yes I have seen that label before. I saw it at NWCGE and at least the seller there is legit.

I am stupid, I know, but did you mean the one I bought?

sorry if I was pessimistic. I really hope it turns out legit.
BTW how do you tell if it is a reviewer copy? don't reviewer copies have roms instead of the eproms in protos?

I have one review copy. It have 1 solderline or what i shall call it. Dont have the retail of it so i cant compare, but i never seen this on any retail games. It does have ROM afaik, not EPROM.

anotherfluke had some of those for sale at NWCGE this year and I bought on from him 2 years ago. Like others have said it is not a fake but it also does not have EPROMs. It is more than likely from a Nintendo employee sale. I think there are a number of reasons it could have had a label like that. I sold the one I had at CGE in 2004 for $10-$20.

Review copy of what game? I know I've seen a Star Soldier review copy with production ROMs.
Just a little curious btw, are you from Sweden?

Some clarifications here:
Swlovinist: There is no such thing as a "reviewer demo" not being a proto for the NES. It's either a proto or it's not. There's not stipulation between development copy and demo because they both contain the same type of EPROMS 95% of the time (only other occurence I can recall is the Star Soldier incident with ROM chips and no label from Video Games & Computer Entertainment Magazine that I sold that was sent to them back in the late 80s..) , it's just that the data is in a different stage of development more than likely, so the demo/proto thing is a missing argument because there's no such thing, either it's a proto or it's not. The one Johan bought probably is not because it is on a standard ROM board inside, and is just missing a label. THey have sold that exact cartridge at the Nintendo Garage Sale before.
AS for the one on the Warp Zone, there are TWO of that cart that exist that I know of. One is in MY hands, the other is in nintendocholo's hands.

Make that 3, i had one pass through me, but it had the windows in the case for the eprom.

I couldn't complete the transaction because the guy doesn't accept paypal, even though his payment instructions says that.
Anyway, I don't think I missed out on something...
Here it is again, this time at 119 big ones.

looks to me like you dodged a bullet. The guy can't even elaborate on the item let alone correct his horrible typing.
