Is this a new Ys game, or another port of books I & II?

It's a port of Ys VI: Ark of Naphistim. Anything new for the PSP version?
From what I've read the game uses the original sprites from the PC version and there's a new mini-game. I'll probably pick it up just to help support Ys.

So, is this game an action RPG? I've never bothered with any Y's game, but if the PS2 game is the same as this, and this is an action RPG (as opposed to turn based) then I'll definatly pick it up.

yeah its an action rpg, and its a port of the PS2 ver with mini games added in
"Added to the PSP version is a slew of new minigames for quick-play. A total of nine games will be unlockable as you complete the quest of this action-RPG. In our preview look of the game at the Konami BBQ, we had a chance to check out two of these minigames in play. The first had you as the guardian over a stampede of villagers. Monsters have snuck into the settlement and have disguised themselves as townsfolk, and now everybody is in a panic. You will have to watch the crowd of about a dozen people as they race towards safety. Slight variances will appear that will let you spot the monsters, but be careful not to get too hasty -- you wouldn't want to hurt an innocent! The second game was a memory challenge, where Isha has lost a number of items on a beach. You get to see all the items scattered on the beach, but before you are able to race out, the tide has washed them all under the sand. You'll have to use your memory to find and dig everything up for her. Other minigames include challenges like solving in-game obstacle courses."

I probably will not pick it up, as I have already have Ys VI for the PS2. A couple mini-games aren't going to make me pay full-price for the game all over again.
However, if you do not own any port of Ys VI, I would definitely recommend this game. It's a lot of fun. A LOT of good, old-school fun.

I don't even have a PSP and I'm getting it just because it's another Ys product in the US.

I already played and finished the PS2 version, and I'm still going to run out and buy the PSP version as soon as I get the chance -- hopefully today if I can find a store that has a copy. :)

It's Ys.
Not Y's.
Damn.
The Y is not in possession of anything.
It's pronounced "ease", like the start of "east", not "wise", and not "yease" like Konami wants you to believe.
Peace.

this might make me actually get a PSP... i love RPGs, especially portable ones, and ive already exhausted all the gba ones, plus and i kinda want to play something nicer now...
Let's not forget about Ys Strategy (http://www.n-philes.com/index.php?id=1983), it looks like a slight change for the series, but hey it's another Ys game.
edit: It really is going to be a change for the series according to Gamespot (http://www.gamespot.com/ds/strategy/ysstrategy/news.html?sid=6136705&mode=all)
Very interesting indeed.

I'm going to be the downer here and say I wish they'd have just bothered getting Oath in Felghana out on the PS2 instead. Also, I'm curious if when Taito is finally finished with Lost Keifen on the PS2 if they'll compile Ys III, IV and V onto a collection for US release. Yummy.

As huge of an Ys fan as I am and as much as I love my DS.. this does nothing for me.

The possesion part is correct, but your pronunciation is wrong. The word "ease" uses a harder 'z' sound for the s. The correct pronunciation would use a softer s sound, like in Yeast or Peace.
The Japanese kana spelling is "isu." That's the ee sound using the kana for "i" with the dash after it, extending the vowel. So, it could even be argued that the correct pronunciation is "eesoo," rather than just "ees."
Given that the Japanese have never spelled it "izu," There is no z sound in the name, just an s sound.
EDIT: On reading your post again, I guess I was just thrown off when you used "ease" as an example. I read your post incorrectly, so yeah, you pretty much got it. My apologies.

Personally, I think the 3D graphics look somewhat horrid. Eh, I wish I had it, though. :)
