IGN published such a guide but the link seems to be dead. So I still wonder what games are worth importing on N64.

I used to like Choro Q Park on Saturn. Is that the same game on Mario's console ?

While most of those GameFAQs Top 10 lists are really horrible, this one is actually extremely well done, representing most of what I too would say are the best Japanese-only N64 imports:

It's just missing Wonder Project J2, which is actually my personal favorite, but the language barrier can be too much for some people to handle. Since I don't know much Japanese myself, I had to rely heavily on an FAQ the first time I played just to figure out what the hell was going on. In the end, though, it was such a wonderful experience that I didn't mind, and I got so accustomed to the style of gameplay that I was able to play through the first Wonder Project J on SFC with barely any outside help.

It also doesn't have Nushi Tsuri 64, which I just bought and am extremely excited to play, expecting great things, but since I haven't played it yet, it's too early for me to be singing its praises. :P But heck, I can't imagine they'd screw it up so bad that someone who enjoys Legend of the River King on Game Boy wouldn't enjoy the N64 game as well.

Thanks a lot for your link Aussie. But unfortunately for me, I don't like rpgs...
Now I know that bomberman 64 is not one of those crappy 3D versions ! As good as the SS game ?

Holy crap! Gamefaqs didn't think Bakuretsu Muteki Bangaioh (Bangai-O) deserved to be in the top ten! I must be completely out of touch with the gaming community. :/

Well, it's just one guy who wrote that expressing his personal opinions, so maybe he hasn't even played Bangaioh. :P

Bombeman 64 seems to be quite rare, as it's one of the last N64's release.
I did not manage to find it on YJ. In fact I found only a copy on a french e-shop for only 99 euros...
Any cludes concerning bomberman 64 ?

I think it was the very last release actually.

I got my copy for around $30, but that was a few years ago from Wolfgames (when the store was still alive).

It's a very fun game, and I'd probably say it's the best Bomberman game I've played (but I haven't played the Saturn Bomberman). It's got pretty nice 2D graphics, especially for the N64, a system weak in 2D capabilities. It's got four different modes of play, so it's good bang for your buck. It's got a traditional mode, a puzzle game not unlike Sega Swirl, Panic Bomber, and Bomberman Land (an amusement park loaded with mini-games, and despite that I'm usually not too crazy for mini-games, most of them are quite entertaining). So overall, it's definitely one of the better Japan-exclusives, but I wouldn't recommend paying a huge sum for it.

I read it was not as good as the SS version, but xtill an excellent collectible for the N64.
If you see a copy hanging around, do not hesitate to pm me ;)

Choro Q is meant to be pretty good. Theres 2 versions of it in japan.

Theres the normal version & theres a special boxed set with a choro Q car model in it.

Never seen a japanese version of ridge racer 64, not sure if it was released over there.

Wasn't Choro Q released in the US on N64 as Penny Racers?

As for Ridge Racer, I recall that the N64 game was created by a team at Nintendo of America (same team that did the GBC version of Crystalis), so that too is a good indication that it probably never got a Japanese release.

And honestly it should have never been released over here. I toss it in the same pile as the other bastard Ridge Racer game, R: Racing Evolution.

That was a pretty decent article, but I'd have liked it better if it were told from a perspective of someone who understood no Japanese whatsoever. Yes, I am a damned Imperialist.

Here are some import-only N64 games that us English-only gamers can enjoy...

Air Boarder 64 (ok, this game is pretty bad, but it's a totally playable arcade-type game)

Last Legion UX (pretty good Virtual-On clone)

Uchhannanchan no Honoo Challenge: Denryuu IraIra Bou (very similar to Irritating Stick for PSone, takes nerves of steel)

Rugakids (whimsical 2-D fighter from Konami, also released in PAL territories)

Virtual Pro Wrestling 1 & 2 (these are excellent wrestling games in a genre that the N64 was known for.)

If you mean about Ridge Racer 64 it's that it is a terrible game and was abomination to the Ridge Racer franchise, same as its DS port and the horrible and unfinished R: Racing Evolution (which began life as Ridge Racer 6 years ago).
