View Full Version : Are there more than one version of R.O.B.?

Did Nintendo make more than one type of R.O.B.? I have 3 of the robots and 2 of them have two glass eyes and the other one has a shield for the eyes. Are these different versions or does the shild part actually come off?
On another note I was wondering what the price of a complete rob goes for compared to one that is loose and non-working? I'm guessing that a loose rob would go for at least $5 or $10. any comments?

all robs came with the "shades" they were optional depending on the brightness of your tv
they are one of the harder rob items to find because most people lost them.
rob wasn't around long enough to have any variations (I could very well be wrong)
the only thing that could be considered a variation is the japanese version of him has red parts instead of black parts and came packed with robot block instead of gyromite

funny, mine does not have the red eyes. I've always wondered why. I cannot take the cover off, as there is nothing behind it. I took it apart to clean it and found that out.

Iirc, the shades were adhesive on one side...I just stuck mine on and they've stayed ever since.

If we're getting into regional differences, Im pretty sure that the Japanese R.O.B. had blue eyes or something, some sort of different color scheme.
Even though I dont know all the details, I think this can be seen in MarioKart DS.
And then theres R.O.B. 64, who talked by moving his head up and down really fast.
