Ok, in the online rarity guide, it says that the Genesis mouse was a European item, and that it is red and black.

I have a couple of Genesis mice, and the ones that I have are all black. There is no red whatsoever. I also didn't get them in Europe. I'm thinking that these must have been released in the U.S. and that they are all black. They have 3 mouse buttons, as well as a start button.

What games can use this mouse? Any games require the mouse?

I'll have to try that out, because that would be nice.

I bought a Sega mouse because I thought it would be good for Warrior Of Rome II and other menu games like Power Monger but there's no support for it. That mouse seems to be a very specialized peripheral, supported by only a handful of titles.

Mansion of Hidden Souls for Sega CD is compatible with it.

I wonder if Jurassic Park for the Sega CD or Lethal Enforcers for the Sega CD works with it? I guess I'll just have to whip those games out and give them a try. Jurassic Park for the Sega CD seems like it would make sense to be able to use the mouse with it. Oh, what about Willy Beamish? You would think that any of the games that are like that would work good with the mouse.

I'd love to see a pic of the mouse pad. I know what the mouse pad for the SNES looks like, but I've never seen the mouse pad for the Genesis mouse.

Since Genesis pads work with the Atari 2600, I wonder if the mouse works as a 2600 paddle. :-)

I believe both Lethal Enforcers and Willy Beamish both work with the Genesis mouse. Panic! is another Sega CD title that is compatible with the mouse.

Well that just sounded too weird to not try it so I just miscegenated my Sega mouse into my trusty 2600 Jr and popped in Super Breakout.

You have no paddle control. The ball launches 5 times on its own and then it's Game Over. So it doesn't work, but thanks for the suggestion.

BodyCount can be played with the mouse instead of the Menacer.

Yep, Eye of the Beholder on Mega-CD works with the mouse, as does Shining Force CD. I always though the US version of the mouse was more oval in shape with 3 buttons. I have a JP one which is blocky with 2 blue buttons, and I think the Eur one is similarly shaped with 2 red buttons. Neither of the games above uses the third (middle) button on the mouse though they are pictured in the manual.

I'm told, though I haven't checked, that the mouse use in Populous 2 is bugged - one axis is inverted. However, the other one isn't so you can't even get away with inverting the mouse. I really should test this one day.
