Can't really comment on how credible this legal analysis is, but it does seem there's an off chance something will happen. I'd definitely label it as an unlikely event, though.

Hopefully it will spurn them to make a new Mutant League line of games.

could EA maintain themselves without the money Madden gives them? They would have to reinvent themselves.

They would still have Need for Speed Underground. :/
But they should just consider cranking out another (good) Road Rash game.

BRING BACK THE XFL!!!
LOL LOL LOL
Seriously, it could be true... Especially if the greedy NFL players keep asking for more cash, hell, the league will bankrupt itself by 2010. They wanted ABC to fork over, what was it - $60 million (?) for the rights to air Monday Night Football for the '06-'07 season. Not to mention the NFL would've gotten a huge chunk of change for advertising revenues, alone.
I hope the whole sport of football goes under. Bunch of greedy assholes.

Yeah, I remember seeing an interview with a Fox executive last year, doing a comment regarding the NHL strike. He went on to say that the situation with the NFL won't hold long because the TV money will eventually level off.

Am I one of the few people who likes EA. I mean they are the big dogs in the biz, and they thought to buy the contracts for the NFL, and don't tell me if any other company didn't have the money that they would of done it also. They just had the money, and the process to do it first. Also people may complain that they are buying up design studios, but in reality their giving them the ability to make their game better. Check out the first Time Splitters, then compare it to the later ones, check out the BurnOut series. Sure thy have had some crappy games come down the line, but thats more of the design studios fault more then the publisher who gave the money so they could make it. Also from what i hear the people that work for EA, love working at EA, they say it's among the best job they have had.

Not at all. They make good games - but they will always have their haterz 'cause success breeds contempt, especially with this lot.
Did anybody here hear how the NHL strike affected sales of it's games last year? I'm sure they went down, but by how much? And how much did they rebaound this year? I know the NHL games *pale* in comparison to Madden, but relatively speaking I wonder if the numbers would be the same? I'm sure I speak not only for myself when I say I boycotted all NHL related products last year, no mean feat since I enjoy buying stuff for my kids.
Unfortunately for the haterz I don't think something like this would kill them. Madden is their biggest seller but it's hardly their only best seller.

That is the best idea ever.
Seriously, I'm hating myself for following every OTHER forum's silly take on this and not checking in on this.

The players are really not asking for that much more money. They are just asking for a higher % of the money the NFL earns. In the past it was in the low 50's the players are asking for 60% no more ,no less. The reason their might be a strike is because the owners cannot agree on how to split up the money they make outside of the TV money. Also ESPN offered to pay 1.1 billion a year to show monday night football, ABC was not asked to pay anything, they are owned by the same company. Disney decided to have ESPN bid for monday night football, so they could move the game over to cable. It seems like you do not care for football, so I guess I am wondering why do you care?
And I am guessing EA will put out a Madden with player #'s and no names like NCAA football. Then all the "casual gamers" will still buy it and the EA/sport game haters will cry about how the "Causal gamers and EA" are killing video game industry! LOL
