I've lost almost all my intrest in the game..

I'm sure it will be released, they have put far too much money and time into it.

I do think we won't see it for a while, but eventually.

I do think this game will eventually be released. I question whether or not it will be any good though. They should have released it in 2001 after showing that video at E3. They would have sold a shitload of copies, and possibly made their money back. But now.. 5 years later? Who knows.

It's unfortunate, but I'd imagine it'll become another Daikatana.

I remember giving Daikatana a lot of shit for its long development time, and that game only took what.. 4 years?

I loved the old Duke Nukum games. I never even heard of this one. I am hoping it comes out soon. But for some reason usely when a game takes this long to get out it is usely about medium good. Like Perfect Dark something. I heard it was not half as good as the first and it was being made longer than it should have been. I hope Duke Nukem does not fall into this catogory to. So far I have never seen a screen shot or any thing but I still want to play it now that I hear someone talk about it.

It's topped vapourware lists for many years now, and there's no reason why it won't remain on those lists for years to come.

Its hard to say. If they release it the game must be fucking good. Think of all the expectation people have to this game. Its been delayed for how long? 8-10 years?

I have an old PC Gamer that has Duke on the cover and the OMG FIRST EVER SCREENSHOTS.

Issue is November 1997.

The game won't come close to recouping the investment, but it will come out. Probably next year.

As much as I would love to see this game.... I just don't see it happening anymore. They'd have to build a completely new engine if it were to 're-start' development this late in the game.

But hey, they brought back Prey from the dead, so not all hope is lost. But come on... When I worked at Babbage's in 2001 we already had something like 17 pre-orders.

And to put it bluntly, that store closed down in 2003. And it's been 3 years since then.....

Wonder if those people ever got their money back? :P

Yes, that trailer looked spectacular in 2001. George Broussard last year said that nothing that was in that trailer exists today.

All i can say is they picked a good name for the game.

I think it's kind of cool that Broussard and the others at 3D Realms are all independantly wealthy enough that they can kick back and say the game will be finished "when it's done."

Honestly, if they spent all this time making every object interactable and/or destructable to the degree that they were in Duke Nukem 3D this will be on of the best games ever made.

Level design worries me though. Duke Nukem 3D was basically the first FPS to have a ton of very convincing levels that took place in real world type locations instead of a bunch of rooms or whatever. It was fantastic and almost all of the levels hold up even now. It will be very tough to top those.

Yeah, it'll come out.

Take-Two Interactive to bring its first-person shooter Duke Nukem Forever to GameCube. (http://cube.ign.com/articles/094/094538p1.html) ;)

On a side note. I want to go to Booty Island.

Darn the memories. I recall playing the Assault 10 (Better known as the Ass10) map for Duke Nukem. I would get up into the tower window and just drop loads of ordinance with my trusty rocket launcher and blow away the poor saps in the trenches. What were we using then? I think it was 28.8 modems at the time. 56K modems would not come out for another year or two after that. Lag city!

Which is why i will always enjoy Duke3D over Doom. Doom was fun and all, but i never got the feeling i was in "Central Processing". The levels were really too vague in design.

Dukes levels were good until he went into space. A few space levels were great and endlessly fun but most (IMO) were rather generic and bland.

Its a shame there is no way to convert those "Lameduke" levels to Duke3D, some of those were pretty cool.

It's not going to be a game that will be so incredibly wonderful that everyone will look at it and say, "Yes! This game could only have been produced after ten years of development!" But it will come out eventually, and I imagine it will at least be one of those modestly successful FPS games that are competently done and forgotten after a year or two.

IF it does eventually come out, I can guarantee it's going to be mediocre. Just because a game takes forever to come out doesn't mean the final product is going to be good. Look at Kameo. Can you tell that game took nearly 10 years to make?

I hope Duke Nukem never comes out, because the joke only gets funnier by the year. And yet, people still continue to believe them every time a new release date is announced. When it gets pushed back again, everyone looks stupid, and then I laugh again.

One thing I have to say (if it's ever released), is if it doesn't have Jon St. John as the voice of Nukem...then it'll be dead to me, because Jon's voice has gained that much popularity to that of Bruce Campell's imho.

Yes. If people would just read the damned updates, 3D Realms is wrapping up work on the engine, and they should be (or maybe they already have?) in the game creation phase by now.

Oh well, it'll come out, and we'll all be like "wow." Mark my words, it'll be a great game.

There's a reason it's titled "Duke Nukem Forever" forever is the key word and how long it's going to take them to get this game out. LOL

I remember being in college when they started this thing, and that was more than a few days ago. I was excited about it back then. Heck I held my excitement until about 2002, but now I don't even bother thinking about it.

Even comming from a hardcore duke fan like myself, I'm going to go ahead and say this game is going to be mediocre at best. They'll never be able to recreate the magic that was duke3d, they failed with doom 3 and Rtcw, what makes them think they'll be able to with duke?

Yes, you have to do some digging.

I was expecting Duke Nukem info and instead i was slapped with some junk about the Revoltion being renamed.

You don't even have to look at the news sites, just go to the source:
http://www.3drealms.com/duke4/

Obviously yes, the old screenshots and all are down due to being out of date with what is now being produced. In addition there are no pre-orders available so don't risk putting money down yet.

There's no possible joke you could make about the game's development time that we haven't already heard.

Inspiring.

Come now, Amazon is quite notorious for reporting release dates that have no basis in reality. Or have you forgotten those Sierra compilations already?
