Now let's take a minute and try to figure out what the F was going on in the mind of this individual, when this goofball decided to try this.

A. Does he really think that somebody will actually fall for this and buy it thinking it's some super rare game? I mean, does the guy think some dumb ass celebrity with big money is going to browsing through Ebay and see that and think, "Man, I gotta buy that, it must be super valuable to be priced that high, I should snap that up before somebody else does"

B. He knows that there isn't any chance somebody will actually buy that from him for 5 grand, but he's interested in getting contacted by people to try to possibly sell something else to them or something???

I mean, what the F is this guys MO? What is the rationale for doing something like this?

10 cent listing day. It draws other viewers into his auctions. Simple as that.

There is a japanese version of tetris that does infact go for several thousand. I think it is for megadrive. If this indeed was that game, his price isn't unreasonable.

I remember something about this as well. Was it pulled after only a short time?

It is a super-rare game and I have heard of this game going for up to $3000. The game was produced and packaged for Megadrive, but for legal reasons it never made it to retail. It is believed that less than 100 of these games exist.

Now, does this clown really own it? Well, with lack of picture, I seriously doubt it.

The fact he says there are no instructions... all the real Sega ones found so far are complete. All the pirates are just box and cart. I suspect that's what he has ;)

Worth it for the real deal. Which this won't be.

Wow, I guess you learn something new everyday. I never really have considered how other countries value their rare games. I would have never guessed that there was a Genny game worth more than a few hundred at the very most.

There are what, Anagrama, four real copies known about currently? One of them sold in Japan for almost one million Yen (that's around 4500 GBP or $7500).

The reason why it was included in my "rare games" article I wrote for Retro Gamer in issue #13...

£4500 for a Megadrive game is insane @_@

I'm not as clued in on the JP side as some other folks, but the reports I've heard have all been "4/5 copies", "single-digit quantities" or "less than 10".
I've got a saved YAJ page with one selling for 320,000 yen a few years ago, and heard about another (probably the same one as you) that allegedly sold privately for 900,000 yen.

But yeah, this one will undoubtably be a pirate - if it was the real thing he'd have dozens of detailed photos, and I've had no response to the question I sent yesterday.
I bought a pirate copy (the more common red/blue cover) a few months ago for about $10 (and was recently told by a pretty reputable source that the pirate ones are not the same game as the official version).
