Came close to purchasing, but held back. From what I remember, the originals that came with the SNES had the "SUPER NINTENDO" logo in grey in the center. When the SNES was rereleased in smaller form, it was just about identical to what is pictured in this auction (Nintendo logo molded into the plastic instead of the printed Super Nintendo logo), however the A B X Y button labels were light gray, not black like is pictured here.

Need to pick up some spare first part controllers, new.

Those are absolutely fake, I already bought some. They are trying to be exact copies but still are low quality. Plastics molding is thin and doesnt quite line up. I think they took the other fakes with no Nintendo logo and added it, but even the letters arent straight. You want to look for controllers where the letters are painted on like http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8264724179 (no affiliation, have bought those ones too).

I'd say fakes.

I bought some from an eBay seller (NintendoPlayersChoice) a couple months ago, and man they were some real crappy reproductions (Linky (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8245896880&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.com%3A80%2Fws%2Fsearch %2FSaleSearch%3Fsofocus%3Dbs%26satitle%3D824589688 0%26sacat%3D-1%2526catref%253DC5%26fbd%3D1%26amp%253Bsspagename %3Dh%253Ah%253Aadvsearch%253AUS%26from%3DR6%26nojs pr%3Dy%26fscl%3D1%26pfid%3D0%26fswc%3D1%26few%3D%2 6saprclo%3D%26saprchi%3D%26fss%3D0%26saslop%3D1%26 sasl%3D%26fls%3D4%2526floc%253D1%26sargn%3D-1%2526saslc%253D0%26salic%3D1%26saatc%3D1%26sadis% 3D200%26fpos%3D28120%26fsct%3D%26sacur%3D0%26sacqy op%3Dge%26sacqy%3D%26ftrt%3D1%26ftrv%3D1%26sabdlo% 3D%26sabdhi%3D%26fsop%3D1%2526fsoo%253D1%26fcl%3D3 %26frpp%3D100%26fvi%3D1)) The ones that I purchased from him look pretty much exactly like the ones in your link. Luckily after going back and forth with him for a few days, he said he would accept a return. I had some pictures of the reproductions next to authentic SNES controllers, but I cant get to them at the moment. There are even a couple grammar errors on the box back. Came in a crappy "thin" box with no Nintendo paperwork or anything...

Yup, fake but close. You have to remember the the very first original SNES controllers had failures with the L and R buttons and had to be replaced in most instances - so technically they were cheap to begin with. LOL

That's why if you're going to buy controllers it's better to by fully refurbished ones, using original parts, from someone like myself.

No, he was from California I think...

I think they're real, but "outsourced" and not quite as good as the originals with the printed label.

I have a similar controller which is also a nice simulation, except it has the thumbpad sticker applied upside down, straight from the factory. I think I paid $2 for that thing.

No they are fake. Seriously. Like others said above, they are differently produced. That box was never released as a controller in the US.

100% FAKE. There's a used games store around here that I saw them at over the weekend, same box and everything. I toook one out of the box to investigate (as I was curious), and found that it was super cheap. The holes around the buttons weren't cut correctly, there were shavings of plastic sticking out around the buttons(which sat too low), and the D-pad was sitting up really high and made a clicky sound when pressed.

I'd avoid them at all costs. Seriously.

And Poofta, you need to chill out and stop being such an ass. :hmm:

If I just found out I got burned, I'd probably be mad and denying it as well. :)

Thanks for all the replies. I did pick up quite a few sealed boxes of new NES controllers, Advantages, an 'NES Satellite', and several other sealed/new NES stuff. I opened them, inspected them, all appear to be legit. Got each pretty cheap too. Nothing like having 2 boxes of sealed NES controllers that have 2 controllers in each, for probably $10+ shipping each. This was around 2000 or so, though. I saw an NES Advantage (sealed) just go for nearly $70. That is very tempting to me at this moment, as I don't think I opened two I got for like $15 each at that time.

On these SNES controllers, I'm pretty sure I've seen these in some stores recently. The boxes are very dull, where I would expect them to be glossy. Dull like Majesco boxes but worse.

Thanks for the heads up and confirmation. Anyone know where I can get REAL 1st party SNES controllers new?

Came across this earlier, thought I would throw it in here for a side by side comparison

Wow, you can really tell the difference when looking at both! What a piece of crap!

I think the box gives it away. Plain and simple!

Try calling Nintendo direct. You won't get a box if they still sell them, but it will be new.

They still sold NES dogbone controllers when I called a few months back!

Definitely fake. I've seen real ones where the snes logo and select/start lettering have been worn off from cleaning, but the Nintendo stamp is a dead giveaway.

I posted something about this a few days ago in the ebay forum. This is a shame. You would not believe how hard it was to get some official SNES controllers. Ebay is completely SWAMPED with these rip-offs...and it really takes a keen eye to NOT get one of these. Luckily I suspected these to be fakes, and found some mint condition official controllers.
