Well, nearly a month ago I received my copy of Towers: Lord Baniff's Deceit for the Gameboy Color.
Overall, I do like it, but it does not have the staying power of Lord of the Dungeon. This is because, even with the way I play, somewhat carelessly and not every day, I beat the game in 12 days.
The one thing I resent is the misleading ad. While it is true in a technical sense, the assertion that there are "hundreds of items to find and monsters to fight" is cheating: most gamers assume that this means different kinds of items, but in fact they mean it literally- they are counting the same kinds of items and monsters many times over. For example, there are only about 15 different kinds of monsters, including Baniff himself.
And beating Baniff was not all that hard. It's based on the fact that no monster can follow you up or down a flight of stairs.
Still, getting past Level 12 was a blast- man, that was tricky!
Overall, I'd give the game a 6.5.
Sadly, Towers 2 has apparently been canceled.
