For some who may not know, the Metal Gear Saga Vol. 1 is the free promo DVD you are supposed to get when you pre-order MGS 3: Subsistence. I went to go pay off my LE version and the girl gave it to me. I have to say this was a very nicely done DVD, even by promo standards. It has 5 sections, which is divided into the 5games in chronological order (MGS 3, MG, MG 2:SS, MGS, MGS 2). Part of it is some footage from the games, with a nice overview of the plot (narrated nicely with subtitles too) and other parts are interviews with Kojima. It's nice to hear how much he disliked the NES versions and how the idea for MG 2 came up. Also on the DVD are a bunch of trailers, including ones for MGA 2, MGS 3 (3 of them) and the 2 MGS 4 trailers, the parody one from E3 and the real one from the TGS. It's a pretty cool DVD and I look forward even more now MGS 3: Subsistence.
P.S. - Since there doesn't seem to be one, should I make this the official MGS 3: Subsistence thread?

Anyone know where I can pre-order the limited edition version of this? Seems like all the places around me won't let me pre-order this anymore...

All the stores that were doing pre-orders on the Subsistence LE stopped taking them 2 weeks ago. Guess that this game really could be a limited edition since it seems like it's sold out already. Makes me glad I ordered my copy last month.

I got the DVD today at E.B. Games. They asked if I wanting the limited edition or the regular so I chose the L.E. version. That store is still taking pre-orders for the L.E. version.

Huh. It's not on their website any more. (http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/259834.asp) I'm pretty sure the LE version was canceled because there's only one release date in the computer.

I haven't heard anything about cancellations, but when I went to preorder the LE last week at Gamestop, I was told corporate told them to stop preorders. Luckily I was able to go to Gamecrazy a few miles away and preorder it there. Gotta check in with them to see if the bonus DVD is in yet!

Just watched the dvd today, it was pretty cool but kind of short. I thought it was cool that they talked about policenauts, but the should of talked about snatcher too. Seems like the content of the dvd was rushed, but the packaging is probably the coolest of any dvd packaging ever. I havnt played mgs3 yet so I'm really exicted for this game to come out, I've made a ritual to play all metal gear games at least a year after they come out, I like to take my time on them.
ps. does anyone know if ANY online sights are taking preorder on the LE version of this, I do realize gamestop/eb have stopped , but I was hoping some obscure retailer is still doing it?

Nothing on Ghost Babel? Weak.
They only covered canonical games in Vol. 1. I've heard rumors that Vol. 2 will cover gaiden games like Ghost Babel and the Acid spin offs.

When you select a new chapter, there is a really nice timeline right under everything. I would love to get that entire timeline because it seems that is the exact timeline of the whole Metal Gear universe. I want it!

I remember the Document of Metal Gear solid has a timeline, unforunately it doesn't include MGS3 stuff.
Btw. MGS3 Existence disc included with the LE of subsistence is AWESOME. The game is put together really well(as usual), I haven't played online yet. More impressions tonight.

For some reason, after watching the Saga disc again, I decided to watch parts of MGS again and I realized I still like the original version a LOT better than TTS on the GC. Maybe its the original music, better dialogue/voice acting and the not too over the top cinemas I still enjoy more...actually, I still like the original graphics better too (albeit with PS2 texture smoothing now). Anyways, I look forward to playing through Snake Eater again, playing through both MG and MG2:SS, and watching the Existence disc. I sort of actually did the same for myself by recording the whole demo theater from the original MGS so the only think I dont have now are the cinemas from MGS 2.
By the way Markman, how DO you get these games early? Do you do magazine/online reviews or something?

He could have imported it from Japan, I know that it has been out over there for a little bit now.
