View Full Version : Sick of Halo 2: What's the best multiplayer FPS on Xbox 360?

I'm curious about what people here think the best multiplayer shooter is on the 360. I'm in the market for a good FPS to play on Live and really can't decide between CoD2, PD0 or Quake 4.
I've played the Q4 multiplayer demo and had fun, but Perfect Dark seems like it would be more polished (and have more people playing).
Any opinions are appreciated.

Ha the FPS MP scene on the 360 isn't bad enough to suggest the Cube, though it is close.
RIght now Quake 4 is so-so in MP, PDZ varies from person to person but i think it plays like shit and COD2, until the update arrives, is just horribly broken. It's laggy and you can't make your own room or choose settings or invite friends.
My honest advice would be to wait until the end of the month and Pick up Far Cray Insticnts: Preadator. It is play like tradional Far Cry MP, then it should be really fun.

Dispite what Njiska thinks, PDZ seems to be your best bet right now. There are a lot of people playing. I have not played it near as much as I should, but that is mainly due to Dead or Alive 4.
Whenever the Gods at Infinity Ward release that mythical multilayer CoD2 patch, I would recommend that one. It is a lot of fun if you can get into a game without lag or drop out. But that doesn't happen... ever.
Quake 4 multilayer feels pretty much like Quake 3 Arena. It is fun Quake fragging, but not near as many people as play PDZ.
My largest gripe with PDZ is the desert level. The re-spawn point is on the outskirts of town. That level is not fun even with a full 16 players. PDZ also has the most modes of play.

Stick with Halo 2, all the Xbox 360 multiplayer shooters will make you want to shoot yourself.
If you absolutely must play one, then PDZ is your best bet.

I'll add another vote for PDZ. Call of Duty 2 is definitely the best FPS on the system (that is, until Far Cry comes out, I'm guessing), but its multiplayer is more or less non-existent in terms of what an online shooter should be. PDZ isn't perfect, but it's the closest thing we have to it.

Halo 2 is old hat now. I'm so bored of that game... Most new FPS games just try to be Halo. I think that if your bored of Halo then play Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2 for the Gamecube, if you haven't already... In general though, the GC isn't really an FPS console, since there are barely any good FPS games on the system. Halflife 2 was good on the XBOX for about 10 seconds, then I completed it and realized how dull it was.

I've heard alot about F.E.A.R. for the PC, maybe check that out if your PC can handle such games.

I'm going to say that PDZ or Quake 4, though neither is really that great. PDZ feels like you are running through pudding, not laggy, but it just feels slow. Quake 4 shows that it was a PC game and is a twitch fest. Either of them are a bitch to set up a game with friends, pretty sad that Halo 2 still has the best lobby system. COD 2, don't even bother. The multiplayer is so broken and laggy that it makes FMV games look good.

Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter (http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/926971.asp) seems to be getting some great reviews.

Never was a Halo fan. I guess im not that much for shooters. Im waiting on ps3 and RE5. Oh yeah...Halo what?
Can't go wrong with The resident evil series...Well except out break 1 and 2. YUCK!
I agree buy a Game cube. Cheap and has great games. Don't get caught up in that xbox 360 hype. Buy a cube and RE4 ...hours of great play there. 8-)

yes, this game is great online and off, it has both fps, and third person mode, and the game is SICK, the levels are tight, and very well done, the multiplayer modes are better than ever, this will fill you need for a fps on the 360.

Go get Ghost Recon now. Just snagged this yesterday and I must say, it is now hands down my favorite 360 game for sure. The multiplayer is just fun as hell.
Granted, multiplayer here is of a much more slow, realistic pace. You don't just run and shoot.

I agree.
This game is fantastic (IMO). It is one hell of a ride and it isn't for the weak either. This game will chew you up and spit you out if you think you can just run and gun.

Although I don't own a 360 or play the games they have on display at the store, in personal opinion I've enjoyed Quake more than Perfect Dark. This is a new system though and from what others say Perfect Dark is the way to go. I loved Quake 1, 2, and 3 arena on both PC and consule ports but you can choose which way to go.

Quake 4 is great if you can stand to reset your console 50% of the time. Once you're in a game it's great, but getting into one is difficult.

Why are people suggesting to buy a Game Cube to someone that asked about first person shooters, and specifically, online first person shooters for Xbox Live on a Xbox 360?

Because Metroid Prime is a FPS.

That's debatable in many people's opinions. But for starters, it's not online, and it's not for the Xbox 360. Plus Metroid Prime not only doesn't have a online mode, it has no offline multiplayer (Unlike MP2).
Reread the topic. :)
