I've been itching for a good side scroller lately. Since I just got my Gamecube, I might as well put it to good use. I know of the MegaMans and I have Network Transmission, but what are some other good side scrollers for the Cube?

If you like Metal Slug style gunnery, Alien Homind is well worth your money. Blowout is a Contra-like shooter as well; I haven't played it, and I've heard very varying opinions towards it. Aside from Megaman: NT, which you already have, I'm not sure if there's anything else.

Blowout is horrible, stick with the megaman's and sonic games.

Ah, hell, of course I forgot the Viewtiful Joe games. Both 1 and 2 are great, great games, and I'm an idiot for forgetting them.

Whoa there. DO NOT waste cash on Megaman:NT. I bought that game brand new for $5 and felt ripped off. The Mega Man collections are worth your time though (obviously). I'll also throw in another recommendation for Alien Hominid, even moreso if you dig Contra and Metal Slug. Like was said before, there aren't a lot of 'em for Gamecube, but if you're willing to invest in a Game Boy Player for the Cube, your side-scroller library will quadruple, and with some quality stuff too (Astro Boy, Castlevanias, Metal Slug Advance, etc.). Be sure to pick up a Hori SNES-style pad for an actual D-pad.

I've already got Network Transmission, and I like it. Anyway, Alien Hominid looks like a good bet. I'll have to snag a copy some time. And as for the GameBoy Player, that was the main reason I bought the GameCube. I just have to pick up the player itself. The Hori Pads do look good, I'll probably order one of those too.

Another "con" vote for Blowout. It's been a while since I played with it, though, so I need to see if it has anything else to offer...I highly doubt that, though.
Alien Hominid...does it do anything drastically different from the PC version (aside from the length)? I still haven't beaten that, so plunking down for a console version so early would be counterproductive (assuming I have money for more GC games at the moment, which I don't).

I love Blowout. It's a great, fun Metroid-esque scroller. It's not a masterpiece, by any means, but it is a budget title and it is completely playable and fun.

Shamu's Seaworld Adventure is average. It's no Ecco, but definately better than i had expected.

Super Smash Brothers Melee has some side-scrolling levels in adventure mode.

If you have a Freeloader or Region switch to play Japanese games, there's the Bonk's Adventure and Adventure Islands remakes.

I agree, if you find blowout under $10 pick it up. Don't expect contra or Halo, but for $10, I get to blow things up..

I've never seen a hori GB Player pad in stores. Are these available online only?
And I'd agree, if you want some platforming goodness, GBA/GB Player is the way to go for GC :)

I would agree with all of those except for the second Viewtiful Joe. One of the most dissapointing sequels of all time.
Of course, I know I'm just digging myself into a hole (again) by saying this.
