What connection are you using RF or Multi Out? RF may have fuzz on it.It goes black probaly because the cartradge contacts are dirty.Get a cue tip and clean them with some rubbing alcohal then it should work. Also turn on the system without a cartrage or card inserted and see if it goes to the bios menu. Hope this helps.

ive tried powering up with out a cartridge. same black screen with the white fuzz... thats with the rf out... theres another a/v out (looks like a large s-video out) that im currently looking for... im curious if that will solve the problem.

thats the din for rgb. a megadrive one will work, or make a cable from the pinout yourself (pinouts are on gamesx)

If you turn it on without a game it should still show the Master system splash screen....as well as play that pleasant "Sega" tone.
The connector on the back is for an AV cable...it's identical to the Genesis 1 AV cable.
PS: You got totally hosed on that deal... Even more so now that it seems to be broken.

Whoa now, don't feel too bad. Try switching out wires!
I don't mean to be a downer...but it really does sound pretty bad to me though. Try switching power supplies (everybody has a stack of 9v Genesis ones). Try the RF cable as well...or make sure you have it at the right channel. Whatever you think.
Still...if you can't fix it that way, it's looking bleak...
