I didn't think the other thread was controversial enough.

N-Gage? R-Zone? Who wears the cheapie crown???

Gotta be the N-Gage. Any Gamestop that still has N-Gage games, as an example, sells them for $6.99 sealed. The rest can all be found pretty easily except MAYBE Bomberman.

Game.com? It's got what, a dozen games and none of them are expensive in any fashion, are they?

Ding Ding! I vote for this as well. You can get a sealed collection very easy for a cheap price.

I would say a more entertaining system to collect for that would be damn cheap is genesis. I started off with about 350 boxes & manuals for this system, and going out in the wild, I got SO MANY carts for a max of 3 bucks. Sometimes I'd come home form my trips with 30 carts. The most expensive rpgs and koei games on that system usually don't go for near as much as on other systems.

Neo Geo.

It's number one in every category, regardless of category!

I'm going to second hellvin on this one
Most Genesis games are cheap as hell as well as good and classic as hell....what more could you ask for?!

Well aside from Jack Bros., the Virtual Boy is still cheap as hell to collect for, and even Jack Bros. should only run you about $50 for a used copy, if you can find one. The only really expensive games for it are the JP imports, like Space Invaders and the Athena games, but otherwise the games are all very cheap and there's only 14 titles for a complete US collection, all of them very easy to find except Jack Bros.

The 32x is a great system to collect for (in the United States, that is.) Only 34 cart games and 5 CD games. Most are cheap, even cheaper if you go loose carts. Only a few games will run you over $10 and most are a lot less than that. Spiderman is the biggie, and he's still in the $100 to $150 range complete. I sold a nice 32x with 6 complete games a while back on ebay for a whopping $38. Cool orange and yellow boxes.

All bets are off with PAL and Japanese games, though. PAL Knuckles and Kolobri cost decent cash, and DarXide, Primal Rage, and the rumored T-Mek will cost you a hell of a lot more. I've never seen a Japanese Romance of the Three Kingdoms 4 for sale.

Sorry in advance to PDF but...

The Odyssey2! Most of the time I come across cartridges they're selling for maybe a buck complete, occasionally $2. Except for the few third party titles and Power Lords, most of the stuff has been stupidly cheap to buy. I could almost finish my collection but I'm too lazy to spend the $25 for the rest of the commons.

Not counting the handhelds (game.com wins by a country mile), I'd hazard a guess at the 7800 - about 90% of the catalogue can be had for pennies.

Where would the Jaguar fit in here? I know some games cost a fair pile, but there are a lot of commons.

USA NES?
Lots of games on USA ebay going for 1 dollar ( 5 NES sports games for 5 bucks at the time of writng this, 12 NES titles for 10 dollars). Lots of 'Buy it now' NES titles for 1 Dollar, with a starting bid a 0.01 (discountgames). Can't complain there

I thought that was the NES.
LOL
I fully expected to see someone make a case for it as most expensive. I'm pretty sure I've seen someone claim that before.

I was thinking that too, but since I un-earthed my half-complete collection, sans system, I decided I'd go for at least one complete collection. I'm definitely not that kind of collector but it'd be neat to have one.

So I went to ebay to try and find a system... jesus god. $80 for a complete VB? What the hell. I thought I was getting a great deal when I gave my system to Perkar for a concert ticket.

I'm still in the market for it, but it's so far in the back seat it'll probably never see completion. But if anyone has a complete VB they wanna dump off for cheap... ;)

game.com. Achika and I recently sold a complete almost sealed collection for $60, I think. Beat that!

The Intellivision!!
Complete/sealed games for less than ...$10?
Loose R8s for $20 and under...?

I have yet to find a cheaper system to obtain games for.

another vote for game.com

N-Gage is way more expensive since as of a few months ago, all new games have to be ordered online only ($25 a pop).

That is not the way I see it.
I own a complete Intellivision collection. From my experience; Not cheap.
Its cheaper that collecting for the NES (which I have almost completed), but I wouldn't classify it as 'cheap.'

Virtual Boy (which I have also completed) was fairly cheap to complete. Couple hundred bucks, nothing too expensive.
Microvision would be another cheap collection to complete. You could probably get a CIB collection for about $200.

The MicroVision is an interesting choice. Not even sure it would set you back $200. Still, though, I'd have to vote Game.com as well. The only game to present a problem would be Wheel of Fortune 2, and even that isn't that hard.

From what I've been exposed, is abundant around here, and really cheap #1 is Game.com. I've found systems for $8 and games are cheap. There's not that many games for it so it's a fast collection.

Going a bit higher in game count for a collection would be the GameGear. I've yet to see any games around here higher than $8, and most are $1-3. The system goes for $8-15.

The largest game library that's cheap is the 2600. You can talk about the expensive games that go for it, but everywhere I go, they price Atari games at $1 each, but charge $60 for a system.... Yeah, $60. I got mine on Ebay 2 years ago with 35 games for $40. Was only missing an AC adaptor which I also got on-line.

So, if you want to be open to debate, although some games are high bids on these 3 systems on the global market, around here lots of flea markets and pawn shops sell these games for dirt.

How about the M2? They never put out any games for that, that should be easy to collect for. The system goes for about $45, and there you go! Complete collection!

For an actual answer, i'd have to vote for the game.com too, i got a complete set of games for $12...

since i do all my collecting in the wild and never buy anything on e-bay or any other online site i would say that the Genesis has been the cheapest to get so far. most games i have paid $2.00 or less for and that includes

Operation Europe
Shining Force 1 & 2
Phantasy Star 2 & 3

Handhelds aside, I would put a vote in for the 7800. The only really expensive game being Tank Command and that can be had complete on Ebay for $60. Now, finding the games in the wild will be more difficult, but just by price I'd vote 7800. Plus there are only 60some games. 32x and Pico would be right there in cheapness too. In fact, now that I've mentioned it. The Pico really would be the cheapest system to collect for, but who would want to?

Good Point. Although I wasn't really thinking of protos when figuring the cost of a collection, that would certainly add to the expense of a 7800 collection.
