A few years back I acquired a Turbo Duo off evilBay. As far as I can tell it was complete (w/box); except for the manual. Now I'm seriously thinking about unloading my video game/system collection (Yes.. in it's entirity) and I wanted to start it off with a bang; so I'm unloading my Turbo Duo and t-gfx games.

In looking at some past auctions on eB for Turbo Duos I noticed that every one of them boxed and claimed "complete" didn't come with the pack-in games. In my boxed TD I got a Y's I & II CD; a Bonks Adventure/Revenge/Gate of Thunder CD (w/secret Bomberman game) and a Ninja Spirit huCard. These all came with manuals, JCs & huCard sleeve (except for NS which comes in a plastic sleeve with NO jewel case.). I know the games were pack-ins because the two CD cases actually are packed in a "generic" white double cardboard sleeve; which held both games and this picture of a banner that used to be on the outside of TD boxes:

..soooo.. my question is..

Were ALL NTSC, domestic, stateside-sold Turbo Duos sold with these pack-in games?.. or was there a "basic" boxed unit ever sold "sans games"?

Every TD box I've seen has a big empty silver area on the right side of the box where this "banner" went ;as far as I can tell. I'm trying to determine whether my boxed Turbo Duo is TRUELY "complete".. minus a manual for the console. Thanks to the TD aficianados out there.

From what I remember, they all came with the pack in CD-Roms you spoke of. But, I do not recall it ever coming with Ninja Spirits. Can somebody confirm?

There are two versions of Duos that came with the following:

Version 1:
- Ys I + II in white regular jewel case
- 4 in 1 Disc (Bonk, Bonk 2, Gates, Hidden Bomberman) in regular jewel case
- One of the following HuCard games:
a. Splatterhouse
b. Ninja Spirits
c. Legendary Axe II (I think...I can never call #3)

Version 2:
- Ys I + II in cardboard sleeve
- 4 in 1 Disc (Bonk, Bonk 2, Gates, Hidden Bomberman) in regular cardboard sleeve
- Ninja Spirits

The difference was actually in the banner itself. Where Ninja Spirits is listed on your example, there was a "PLUS! FREE MYSTERY GAME!" instead.

God bless the Duo :)

If you bought the Duo brand new off of Turbo Zone Direct (http://www.tzd.com/), it came with everything but the games and coupons. They sold the mult-disc separately.

Melf is correct, I think that alot of these sellers purchased these a couple of years ago and think that they are complete.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think TZD sold them for $199.99 brand new.

Also your system is not truly complete unless you have that coupon book and the TurboForce issue ;)

It should be noted that truly new never used Duo systems came shrinkwrapped too.

When TZD sold those systems, they opened them all and stored the parts individually then put together each package as ordered. As a result, most systems don't match serial numbers with the boxes.

Dean, did they shrinkwrap the system or the whole box? I got my original one back when they were still new...but I got it used.

The whole box was shrinkwrapped.
