I don't associate Ralph Baer so much with video games as I do with engineering, innovation, and hard work. I have little idea what the man is truly like, but to me Baer's a great human being.

No, I meant before. She died on the morning of February 10 and he received the award on Feb 13. I spoke to him on the 8th and he told me she went into the hospital and the prognosis wasn't good. Then when I saw the photos, I figured everything was ok. It wasn't until I called him on Feb 18, that I learned about his wife from his daughter.

For Thomas: you read the message too fast and read "he" instead of "she". Dena Baer indeed passed away a month ago, just before Ralph received the presidential award. She has heen fighting against serious health problems.
Ralph is doing well, we exchanged some emails yesterday.
