Do you thing repackaging games in greatest hits cases makes your collection look akward?
I think that in the psx and ps2 scenario, it looks like pure shit, i mean going from a cool sleek black to a crappy bright green? WTF?

yeah, i think it makes your collection look not as perfect, when i get a lot of greatest hits games and my psx collection is pretty far along i think i'm gonna group all the games with greatest hits packaging together.

No! It makes them better for me because it ususally means less money to spend. My first priority is playing the games that I buy, so I don't mind giving a little up on the packaging if it means the game will be $20-$30 less.

Packaging doesn't bother me at all. Especially since I rarely store my games in their original packaging...

well i dont really collect as a completist, nor do i keep my games in their original holders most of the time, boxes and cases get stored away, but yes, those things look like total garbage for the psx. the ps2 is not nearly as bad, but its not like the psx games are anything to look at.......but add some bright green to it and thats enough to make you would have just gotten an original copy. so the real question is, if you went to a store, and this happens to me alot, and you go to buy a game recently placed on the greatest hits list, and they have both versions, which one do you choose, if you were to choose. i think nearly everybody would go for the real deal and not some cheap looking piece of garbage >:(

My main gripe is not the packaging (Australian PS and PS/2 Platinum titles are a nice silver coulor) But the Game Disk. I like the artwork on the original disks, but the re-releses just have the title printed in black block letters over a silver backing. It just looks like they didn't even try, why shold I pay them for something I could do better myself (not that I would do that sort of thing ;) )

I hear Joe Santulli loves GH packaging, he's like the champion of it.

As long as the game is the same and the manual is still there, anything's fine. To me, games are games. :D I get PSX games just to play as I have no motivation to try and collect some 1000 titles and all label/case variations.

I think they're a great idea but not for collectors, unless you're "into" re-issues, reproductions, or afterthought marketing - something collectors in other hobbies typically shy away from.

Naah, I buy for the game. As long as I get all the packaging, I don't care.

To me, the bright lime green GH packaging for PSX looks like crap. The maroon for PS2 isn't as bad, but still doesn't look the greatest.
For me, I'll get the GH version of a title if I can't find the non-GH version then later buy the non and trade or sell off the GH version for something else.

ugh i cant stand those damn greatest hits cases, and now GC and Xbox have there own, I dont know what it is but it reaaaaallly annoys me, id rather go for the original box. I mean if like 10 years from now some certain greatest hits games are rare I think having that on there would decrease value because its not the ORIGINAL box or case.

It doesn't matter to me.I like both GH packaging and regular packaging. :D

To me, it's the game itself that's important, not the packaging. If it helps me save money, I'm all for it. Most of my games are in drawers anyway, so the only time I see them is when it's time to select a game to play...

Blech. Can't stand GH packaging, but if it's the ONLY way I'll get a game, I'd consider living with it. The SNES did it best with the small gold seal on the box...why can't they just do something like that?

The PS2 is by far the WORST GH packaging ever, so your just browsing the PS2 collection, and BAM that ugly ass red seal..ugh. >)

yes i agree with maxlords. looking at my SNES box collection, the GH SNES boxes look the best. What games did they GH package for that system? I have mario kart, zelda link to the past, and F-Zero. I thought there were 5?

Don't mind it. Then again I'm more casual than some of the other people here.. I have about 6 PSX games total.

Just one more label variation for me to find.

I like the GH stuff only because that means, if I'm on the ball, I can get the original packaging for less. I *never* buy GH stuff.
Well, I did once, but that was on a sports title so I could practice unbeknownst to my buddy and it was all they had there, so it was well worth the $8. Someday I'll part with it and pickup the non GH version instead.

I believe, other than a Million Seller banner (or something) the usual sea blue text was gold. I think you can add Vegas Stakes and Tetris/Dr Mario to that. *I think*

So far no.
BTW has there been a case where the original had a color manual and the GH had a B+W manual?
That would be a pretty good reason to me...
