I Just got this report from another member and here it is..
some one on neo-geo.com had got an email from ebgames.com that the game got cancelled so he email SNK Playmore USA and they told him it was true
I just got this e-mail from ebgames.com today, March 8:
Dear EBgames.com Customer,
EBgames.com strives to fill all of the orders that we receive but once in a while a product that is listed as coming soon does not make it onto the shelves. This has happened with an item that you have on order. King Of Fighters 94 Re-Bout XB has been cancelled by the manufacturer and we will be unable to sell it. We have cancelled your order for this item and your credit card will not be charged. If you have other items on your order, those will remain on the order and shipped as soon as possible.

EBgames.com Customer Service
Is this true? What is the reason?
And here is a reply that I got from SNK Playmore USA:
True. See explanation on our website.
www.SNKPLAYMOREUSA.com
And this is the only explanation that I found at their website:
KOF '94 Re-bout for Xbox Live
Due to development difficulties this project has been cancelled.
Link here: http://www.snkplaymoreusa.com/mb/index.php
Its KOF 94 with team edit, almost all the other charictors went on in later KOFs with better gamplay design. I really don't see why theres such an uproar about this cancellation.

Not much at all, just like you said, almost as if nobody really cared if this was going to be released or not.

Canceled is such a strong word.... think more along the lines of "moved to Xbox Live Arcade"....
Development Issues? You mean you realized that no one cared enough to buy the game at $50, so you're going to sell it on Live for $15? I guess it's better this way, everybody wins.

Wasn't this supposed to hit the PS2 as well?

Well it's already on JPN PS2. Yet I don't think Sony had any plans of having a US release of it.

That really sucks. :( I was going to buy it since I've been a good little SNK-nutcase and bought everything they've put out in the US on the PS2/XBox so far.
So I'm about half an hour from Wall, should I see if they have a prototype laying around? ;)

Come to think of it, is NeoWave still scheduled?

Yes and they even offer the Fatal Fury baseball cap again as a pre-order bonus
Due on the 21st or 22nd of March

I played 94 Rebout on my friend's imported PS2. It's pretty awful. It's all the crummy gameplay of 94, with higher resolution and team edit.
It wouldn't have been worth it, not even for the online.

DAMN!
Now I have to pay through the nose for the import.

What announcement? I don't see anything on their site, but I do see a bunch of fanboys bitching and scratching on their Message Boards...
"Cancelled due to development difficulties" is all I've seen.

This isn't the SNK of old. I don't care. It pains me that they're gone, but I'd rather not see their games besmirched by these half-assed hacks.

Just buy the AES or NEO CD versions there cheap enough. Only problem is no team edit OH NO!

Are you talking about the fans or the dev team that was working on it? Eithere way, the love's not there, man.

The games and the people behind the games. New SNK has become sort of like Hot Topic. They take old stuff and whore it out with some seminewness to gamers. They're just not as popular, and rightfully so.

Ditto... I mean if you've got or played 95 to 200?'s playing 94 is a step down, so it's no biggie, and also it's better to play any of the KOF series as it was mean't to be played on a Neo Geo! ;)

Wah?
If you ask me Playmore's put out some far superior stuff to the crap SNK was putting out near the end. KOF 99 had some of the worst gameplay since 94, and 2000 wasn't much better.

Bullshit. KOF99 was a decent game. Not as good as KOF98, but decent. KOF2000 was surprisingly good. Again, not as good as past KOF games, but still entertaining. Now we've got Playmore with their dickassery like NeoWave and that embarrassing Metal Slug 3D shit. Don't get me started on Maximum Impact. And the American branch is shooting themselves in the foot just like their predecessor. Censorship, censorship, censorship. And if this isn't even the American branch's fault, and it probably isn't, then the Japanese part of the company is fucked up.
Samurai Shodown 5? What a joke that localization was. I'll take "VICTOLY" over that shit anyday.

But Maximum Impat was made by Noise Factory. And the US XBox/PS2 releases are a helluva lot more playable than the Japanese version. It's balanced pretty effectively and plays at a really fast pace. Just pretend it's a Real Bout Fatal Fury game (seriously the setting, the cast and the combo system and super move system, the life meters, this thing was totally going to be Wild Ambition 2 at some point in its development) and it will click.
KoF'99 has beautiful animation and backgrounds aon the surface but the majority of the new charaters in it were so underdeveloped as to be almost worthless, and the downgrade in color depth on the majority of returning characters was a pretty big compromise for the improved animation (which ended up just being inconsistent and made some characters even less fluid overall, like Leona as an example).
Metal Slug 3D was started by the old SNK for the Hyper Neo Geo 64 anyway was only scrapped because no one wanted the hardware.
I really don't understand act like the new SNK is some completely different entity from the previous one. Many of the same people are involved at the top as well as in the field (the KoF franchise producer as an example, she's been in the position for many years now) and they're basically continuing in the tragically stupid direction the old SNK began with KoF'99.

Gameplaywise KOF 2k2 shits all over the rest of the entire series. Neowave, 2k3, and even 2k1 are all as fun, if not as tournament-worthy, as any of the older KOF games. Living in one of the few areas of the country where serious fighting game players DO play SNK games, I've witnessed the bullshit you see in older KOFs, and in the new ones. 2k1 has glitches up the ass, but the other ones are all pretty damn good games. To say nothing of Sam Sho Tenka or Battle Colosseum, two of the best fighters SNK has put out, well, ever.
Samurai Shodown 5 localization issues come down to the lack of english story mode, and quite frankly if you're playing a fighting game solely for a story mode, I'm pretty perplexed as to your reasoning.
As for their 3d efforts, Maximum Impact was at the least much more fun than any of the Neo 64 titles, you gotta give it that. Slug 3d isn't out yet, so I'm withholding judgement, although I'm hoping they've made some real progress come E3 to sell it.
