View Full Version : Super Pong is dieing (56K)

Ok my Super Pong system is having major problems.It wont start up and is making a horrible sound.Just by turning it on it makes this sound which can be downloaded here:http://www.freewebs.com/md006/sound.htm

I also took shots of the screen.The System only broadcasts on CH 4 for some reason.Ive tried it on every TV and VCR in my house and still only CH 4. When i switched it to CH 3 Via the internal switch it kind of and really kind of broadcasted on CH 2 and 4 so i turned it back to CH 4. The connection is secure and im using an RCA to Coax adapter,probaly have to get and old Atari Switch Box. Since the Battery springs are really in bad shape i used my Atari 2600 9V DC 500mA adapter. I opened my Pong System and in probaly 5 minutes time the Bios chip was really hot.Anyone have any idea what i should do?

Is a Super Pong rated to handle that output? Check that first, you may have fried something in there. If that is the correct power (sounds about right but you know how this stuff can be) then I'm not sure.

Ugh, I hope you didn't fry anything. The Atari Super Pong power supply is rated at 5.5V. You can try it with batteries if you don't have the correct power supply handy.

If it is in fact 5.5v (thanks Mitch!) then that extra 3.5v may have been enough to overload it. The power supply may have put out a bit too much power since the four batteries would only peak a little over 6v.

Dont go plugging crap in just cos it fits!

And, more importantly, use universal AC adaptors with adjustable voltages when in doubt.
