View Full Version : May someone help me?It's too hard this way!-search over ebay

Usually I put my strings, search by categories and so on.
Recently, after the changes over eBay, when I put my "demo" string (the string that usually shows more items) the page is no more divided into systems.
I mean, I may search in this list "systems", "used" or "new" games, "vintage games" and so on, but, when I choose "games", there is no more "Atari, Game Boy, Genesis..". On the left the menu let me choose just "used" or "new".
This means that if I want to browse inside the demo section, I have to check all the pages (1177 items, 24 pages) or manually search for "genesis", "SNES", "Mega Drive", "Megadrive", "Super NES", "Super Nintendo"....
Obviously this would take one day of work each time.

So I ask, is there a way to have, like before, the "matching categories" menu also in the "Games" subsection?
Or should I give up the demo search?

thanks!

enter demo and then enter any search quotes you don't want preceeded by a dash.

So if you want to search for demo but filter out nintendo, sega, sony or whatever, you'd type this into the search box:

demo -nintendo -sega -sonic -xxx -yomama

It works. I do this to filter out eBooks when I'm looking for software.

Just do the search mentioned above, and once you get a good search string down save it as a favorite search. I always have 10-20 favorite searches saved that I bring up once in a while.

Why does Ebay have those "Item Details" blocks --which let sellers chose PS2, Gamecube, etc-- if Ebay does not allow buyers to use them for searches???

EDIT - It just seems like poor ebay setup to me. They must have made the error in a recent eBay category update. Honestly, they need to rework the whole videogames category setup. Last I know of, when you are searching videogame accessories, you can specify the system twice...

I bet if you email them regarding the error, they will possibly look into fixing the issue.

I agree. They just need to rebuild it from the ground up. They need to get rid of the stupid "vintage games" catergory, as well as the other things you mention.

With this method, and a string of words very long (like the one I use) I will have to choose between losing many finds or losing too much time
