Hey guys,
Was wondering if any one knew the story about this. Now obviously FF XI is an online game. Does any one know what the deal is on how your going to be able to play it online? Obviously you will need xbox live but is there going to be an additional fee on top of the xbox live subscription fee? I know the PC and PS2 versions have a monthly subscription fee. I always wanted to try MMO RPGs but I can't bring my self to pay for a monthly subscription. I already have xbox live and am hoping that is all I am going to need. Any one have any info on this??

I have not read anything, but I'd guarantee there will be a monthly fee. The monthly fee is the whole point od porting it. MMO that are successful are cash cows. They provide the publishers with continuous revenue. The gamne will likely come with 30 days free access though; seems to be standard.

FFXI only requires the free (Silver?) version of XBOX Live. There will be a seperate fee from Square-Enix (14.99 I think for the first character, $1 each additional character*) you'll have to pay. FFXI uses a uniform system to login and play Square-Enix online games called PlayOnline, so everything is managed through the POL interface.

* Not as bad as it sounds, since you can play every job as the same character.
