View Full Version : Drill Dozer for the GBA and **FREE**Grid Wars
This game came to me as a surprise. I was playing my DS at my friend's house when his brother lend me Drill Dozer.
It's a fun addictive platformer with a great fighting mechanics, fun boss battles, an old-school design and SNES style music. Basically you're a girl in a mech suit with a drill and you use the L and R buttons to kill enemies and solve puzzles.
So if you haven't been using the bottom slot of your DS like me I recommend Drill Dozer for the GBA.

GRID WARS it's FREE
If you don't have money for and Xbox360 or haven't found one yet, you're in luck. A free Geometery Wars Clone has surfaced. It's great and free. I played it and it's very addictive.

Just saw a review for Drill Dozer and I was thinking "wow, that's the first GBA game in a long time that I should pick up." LOL Considering I finally repaired my afterburner modded GBA, I think I will.

I just saw some reviews for it a little bit ago as well and was surprised at how neato it looked. I had no idea it was coming out or anything...it just appeared :(
Going to have to go out and pick it up sometime soon after all of the positive word of mouth it's been getting. I'll probably still wind up playing the game in an emulator just for the larger screen size, though :(

You could try a gameboy player!

Yea, if I wanted to stomach playing GBA games with the Gamecube controller...which I don't. It's even worse for 2d games than the N64 and Dreamcast pads, which is quite an achievement.
Once I find a decent arcade stick for the Gamecube then I might change my mind, but until then the GBA Player can eat my ass. I'd rather focus on spending my money on more games.

Hori GameCube controllers FTW.

I managed to beat SA-X with a regular GameCube controller...and I've gotten some good times in Ninja Five-O with the regular GC pad. You gotta get used to it. Infuriating when it screws you up, but that's not as common as you'd think.
Wish they had a Genesis-style d-pad on these newer systems, sheesh.

Hori GameCube controllers FTW.
Gamecube + Gameboy Player + Hori pad = roughly 150 USD
PS2-to-USB adapter + third party PS2 dual shock = 25 USD
Hell the Hori pad itself is usually 25 bucks and you can use the PS2-to-USB for other things, be they emulating other platforms or legitimate software.

That's pretty much how I look at it, though I use Saitek P2500s because I got tired of wearing down my thumb on the PS2's dpad (which I find incredibly uncomfortable, though far better than the GC/DC/N64 pads).
As a bonus, I have one button bound to "fastforward" and another "screen capture". Not a bad deal :)
On topic, I was at the store and almost picked up Drill Dozer but saw that it was $30. Going to have to wait until next month to pick it up, I guess (hey, $30 is a lot for one game for some people) :(
(...plus I blew too much cash on import shmups this month)

I love Saiteks, they are shaped great but wear out easily. I may eventually get another P150 one day because the six button layout is reminiscent of the Genesis.
I almost picked up Drill Dozer yesterday, but I am spoiled with paying less than 20 dollars for a new GBA title and know it will eventually wind up that way. I picked up Sigma Star Saga instead, much cheaper today than it was initially at release.

*Rise fwom yo gwave*
I just picked up Drill Dozer yesterday at a new Target built across the street from my apartment complex.
What a fun game this is and the best part, it was only $7.48. They had a bunch more too.
YMMV, but you might want to check your local Target to see if they're clearing them out like mine is. 8-)

I got the same deal here in MI, so it must be chain-wide.

Drill Dozer was recently $8.96 at Circuit City. Sadly I missed out on that, but then I went to Best Buy a few days ago, to final 2 copies for $9.99 each. I picked one up and have been hooked since :)

Its a fun game but I think its overhyped. I got bored of the whole drilling thing before I had completed the game. All you do is drill... and drill... and drill. Thats the whole game. You can only drill so many boxes before it gets repetitive.

Well - that didn't last long.
Bizzare Creations had them take down Grid Wars.

I guess they'd better sue Polyphony for making Gran Turismo 4, since it involves racing, just like PGR.

I think Game Freak should stick with Pokemon, because obviously Drill Dozer sucks.

It's also only $9.99 at Best Buy B&M.
