I stopped by a local second hand store today to check out what they had. Usually, I won't find any games there - just odd CD's and junk. I was surprised to see a file crate jam packed with an SNES system and games. There was also a Genesis pile with 42 games and system, but they wanted $95.00. Not that it might not be worth it; I'm just more of a Nintendo fan.

They wanted $85.00 for the SNES stuff, but she said she could do $80.00. I came back with $70.00, but we ultimately settled on $75.00.

Normally, I'd never spend that much in a second hand shop, but their profits do go towards the local Women's Center. That makes me feel a little bit better. Still, look at some of these games!

These are all mint or dang near mint. Each is complete with games still in the plastic baggie, dust covers and all inserts, instruction manuals and posters. There are a few gems here.

What you need to understand is that ALL the games are like this - complete and pristine. In fact, after opening these boxes, we're convinced they've never been played. The books are crisp and crack when you open them. The plastic bags on the games are folded too neatly and there are no save files on the RPG's. I figure if you just take the 16 games alone it only comes to $4.69 each. Add a like-new system to that (the bottom half is SNES brown) and that makes it even better. So what do you think?

Here's the complete list of games:

Final Fantasy II
Secret of Mana
Super Castlevania IV
Street Fighter II Turbo
Young Merlin
Super Star Wars
Super Empire Strikes Back
Super Return of the Jedi
Mortal Kombat
Family Feud
Nigel Mansell's World Championship Racing
Madden NFL '94
NCAA Basketball
F1 Pole Position
NBA Jam
Tecmo Super Bowl

Seconded, excellent deal. Those do look brand new with little or no play time. Also it's pretty much all great games which is rare in pickups like that. :)

Yeah, even the console has that 'new feel.' If you had the SNES when it was new, you'd know what I mean. I still have my old one, and the reset and power buttons are lully functional, but feel totally different. Even when I plugged the controllers into this new SNES it really feels tight and secure. Hard to explain, but it feels like 1991 again :)

You know what...

FFII, SoM and CV IV in that complete pristine shape... would easily go for over 80 alone.

What do you think? ;)

If you’re being honest with us that is an amazing deal. A crap copy of FFII in box will go for $30, the same goes for Secret of Mana. Add a complete Star Wars set in box and then factor in the condition, that is one amazing deal.

That is a great deal. Personally though, I would have felt too guilty trying to negotiate a lower price from a local Woman's Club since their original asking price was practically a steal for you anyways. Did you buy it for yourself or are you just going to turn around and resell the lot?

I didn't know who the profits were benefiting until after I was out of there and saw the reciept. From the outside, it just looks like a normal resale shop. She's the one who began haggling, anyways. But you're right, she said they were donated, so I should have known it was for some cause. I'll continue to do business there, so I'm sure they'll get more of my money. :)

As for the games, I play them myself. I am a collector, but I don't sell stuff often. Unless I have duplicates or something. Even then, I'd only sell them to friends or other gamers. I've never sold anything on eBay except for some shirts my fiance bought online that were to big!

Well, welcome to the boards regardless. Good to see amazing "finds" can still be had in the wild. :wink 2:

Unless Crow (excuse me, CROOOOOOOOOOOW!) has done something to Cambot's stash, I'd say he made out pretty well. ;)

I know it's not a likely find, in fact it's pretty unbelievable, but I wouldn't lie to a group of strangers on a site that seems pretty mature. I can't really prove it, but here's the reciept matching the amount...

Almost forgot - if you haven't already, post it up in the finds thread for this month...

http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=81368

This specific thread here really isn't a find thread (guessing that's why it hasn't gotten a lock) since it's more of a question concerning value, but we all like to see what people pick up and now it's all in one place. :D
