Tactics Ogre. This friggin game is IMPOSSIBLE to find. I just broke down and bought it with box and manual for $35 shipped (Used on ebay!)

I've been checking 3-4 store constantly for this game, and they've NEVER had it in stock. I know this is kinda obvious, but just thought I'd mention it!

Weird...it's been all over stores here. I'm sure I saw it used AND new in EB the other day....

Then you got lucky
http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/categories/products/deptpage.asp?wherefrom=search&searchword=ogre

It's $44.99 at the 2 EB's near me, and that's when they have them in stock (Which hasn't been in the last 2-4 weeks). Bestbuy, circuit city, walmart and target never even got them in.

amazon has it for 39.99

I will have to check my target to see if they have it

One of my three gamestops has it $29.99 used (loose) and $39.99 new.

Tactics Ogre: KoL is well worth forty bucks, or even fifty, in my opinion. It has all the depth and strong story of the original Tactics Ogre, but it's not as unfairly difficult. If you liked Final Fantasy Tactics, or any other strategy RPG, buy the Knight of Lodis before it turns into another $80 eBay exclusive.

Gentlemen, I just picked up a new sealed copy of Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis at my local Gamestop. $30. Is this the result of a second print run? (The dudes on duty had no idea.)

There are all sorts of Hong Kong pirated versions on eBay...complete with like a 5-page manual...nothing pisses me off more than buying a game advertised as new to find an obvious pirated version with an official-looking bound version of the manual that only has like 5 pages. The game worked well enough, but the collector in me wouldn't settle for that kind of thing.

I got one of those pirated games off of eBay....I ordered a Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow with box and instructions off eBay, since at the time no stores were carrying the game (of course, right after I got it, all the stores were carrying it again, I guess there was a second print run or something). I didn't even realize it was coming from a different country until it came almost a month later.

Fake box, fake 5 or 6 page instruction book.....I was kinda pissed, but I just wanted to play the game. The cartridge appears to be real enough, though. I guess they just printed up some fake boxes and manuals to include with the cartridges. I think I can score the real box and instructions off my friend though....he doesn't care about that stuff and will probably give them to me if I ask.

What do you guys think about reporting some of these pirated GBA games from Hong Kong that are being sold on eBay? I just ordered one or two and it's fairly obvious (at least to me) that the box, manual, and cartridge sticker are all scanned & reprinted. They're not atrociously bad, but they're not the same quality as the ones I see in the stores. I know a friend who has some of the same games; I'm going to compare soon.

I've also seen PC games like Final Fantasy VII + VIII and System Shock 2 (all three of which are in high demand) being sold by some of the same Hong Kong guys.

On the one hand I'm glad that games like Harmony of Dissonance, Advance Wars, or other games that are becoming more difficult-to-find are getting printed by SOMEBODY...but...

I got this in a trade on GameTZ a couple months ago. I figured it would be a future rarity, so I thought it was worth it. The only problem though was that it was supposed to be sealed but the guy ended up giving me a re-sealed copy from Gamestop. Oh well, at least it's not one of those bootleg copies....

I'm glad i still have my copy of it complete with box and instructions and everything else that was inside the box. :D :-D

What else was supposed to be in the box besides the instructions? Since i got a re-sealed copy, I'm curious to know if I'm missing anything. Mine came with the manual, Atlus warranty card and Nintendo Power + Gameboy inserts. There wasn't supposed to be some kind of fold-out map/chart too, is there?

Man, I was about to quote that Aria of Sorrow post until I realized it was my post from a few months ago......

I think it sucks that these guys from Hong Kong are bootlegging stuff like that, but the weird thing about my Aria of Sorrow is that the actual game cartridge looks real (the label doesn't look printed by someone, it has security bits, etc.) but the box and manual are obvious fakes. From some complaints I've read, it also appears that some fake carts are floating around too......I'd be real pissed if I got one of those.

You can report some of these people if you want, but I'm sure these games will pop up again and again......although I think something should be done, I just doubt that we could do a lot about it from our positions. We could try to report them, just don't know if it'll really fix anything.

Yeah, I got the game complete from Amazon about six months ago for $30 and I have'nt had time to finish it either. It IS fun, but with so many other games to work on I just never get back to it. :o

It's nice to know I have some games for the system that could be rare, though. I have all three Castlevanias, Knights of Lodis, Lunar Legends, and both Metroid games -- all of which seem to go for good prices.

I never heard anything about pirate GBA games. That's really something. It seems like the cart games are bootleged more often then the CD games.

I know that on the Nintendo website they ad posted pictures showing bootleg GBA games, including them opened up so you could see the chipset and the board ect... I dont know if they are still on the site, because this was before the last redo of the site. They only showed a handful of games, but i think the Castlevania games were in that bunch.... Ill do a search on Nintendo's site later to see what i can pull up... With that its 220 Am and im off to bed...

i got mine and a golden sun for $10 each from some guy on the subway not too long ago. i was on the way to a job interview, and he recognized me from my game shop days. he was on the way down there to sell a bunch of stuff, and i asked what he had. he pulled out a gba and 8 boxed, complete games. i asked him how much he wanted for tactics ogre, and he said "maybe 8 or 10"- i gave him my last 20 bucks, and got two great games without breaking a sweat...

Yeah, I'm pretty sure this Advance Wars is pirated. Besides the box & manual being fake, the cartridge itself won't save my game and sometimes fails to boot. As much as I wish that some games weren't rare, this pirating business isn't good for anyone.

The were selling on Ebay for $50-60 complete, but the price has come down a lot.
I'm guessing a second print. :hmm:

Funny, look at this topics' original post date...

I've never played a TO game, and will probably never because of the prices.

Seeing how all the Gamestops around here have new copies on the shelf for $30, I think a second print run is the only explanation.
