according to Wikipedia there was a limited edition mint green version released but I can't seem to find any other info on it or any pictures. I know it is a pain in the ass, but you could always buy a stock colored one and have it painted.

And the green dev console, which surprisingly goes for the same as a used GC on ebay when it appears.

Well just so you know...the Tales of Symphonia cube was never released in the US. It was Japan only so you would need a boot disc to play any US games (or a MOD).
Here's a pic of the system:

IIRC, it was also released in France, thought finding the French version would be harder.

Unless you live in Europe, a PAL console wouldn't be terribly great.
That matching GBP looks pretty nice, though.

Its a disc that you use to play all region games on any system...so you can play US games on this ToS JPN system.
Here's the one for Gamecube:

if i manage to find one i would probably rather mod it. obviously i am not going to do it myself though. that would be quite dumb on my part. what is a good place to get it modded? how risky is it? also, does that gba player thing come with it or would i have to buy it as well?

Could always just paint it yourself if you don't like that tinge of green. I'm sure the cost of paint mods has had to have come down. Especially if you were going to buy an import GameCube and then have it modded, you might as well just save some cash and find a modder that does paint work as well to a native US GameCube.
Some of my paint mods...

...no, I'm not taking contracts right now, weather is all wrong and the last person I painted a console for (an original PlayStation) got pissed off because she didn't seem to understand exactly what color she thought she was going to get.

i would rather just get a modded import one. i really like the way it looks and i think my girlfriend would as well. not to mention from a collectors point of view the tales of symphonia gamecube is a bit cooler! :)

Yeah, keep your feet on the ground and do a case mod.
On the other hand, I came here to mention Heineken's limited edition GameCube. It's a lush, dark green and your girlfriend might like it. The contest ran in 2002, and you can read more about it here (http://www.google.co.jp/search?hl=ja&q=Heineken%20GameCube&btnG=Google+%E6%A4%9C%E7%B4%A2&lr=&sa=N&tab=iw). There is also a thread on the boards somewhere. If anything, it can serve as inspiration for a case mod--'cause good luck getting one.

If you're willing to lay down the cash, then buy the Tales of Symphonia console, it'll probably be a worthwhile investment anyway, considering it had a limited production run. There's pletny of places to help mod your console, won't Play-Asia do it for you? I got my Panasonic GameCube modded there.
Good luck.

thank you again to all the people who have replied. all this information helps a lot. i have another question i didnt think of before. by modding a system does its value decrease at all? you would think that its value would increase. i am not sure though.

ncsx.com mods systems with a nice push button switch for around $38 or so. Very professional job.
