It's the Super Mario Sunshine US commercial. You'll either love it for it's parody on old 80's "Clean up the earth" commercials, or gag at the sight. Enjoy!

Is this the one thats been on tv for like a week? If so, it's freaking terrible. It makes the game look waaay too kiddie, which is an imagine Nintendo should definitely try to get away from if they want to remain succesful.

Yes, I agree entirely. When I first saw this commercial, I wanted to spew all over myself - really. It's only funny in one of those "boy, did they screw themselves with this one" ways. I'm not a big Mario fan, but I've been especially skeptical of this installment. It looks like a pityful little kiddie game to me, and the commercial only supports that. Maybe I missed the joke. At least if I had puked all over, Mario could have helped clean me up...

I haven't played the game, but I've seen a lot of footage and it doesn't seem slike a kid's game in that there is a fair amount of stuff to do and it's not all obvious -- but it does look repetitve: wash an area, reveal creature, repeat. Kind of the same downfall of Luigi's Mansion, which was basically fun but too short and repetitive. I like the GC and Mario, but this game isn't flipping my switch in any way.

I am now seeing the commercial all the time in my area. I hate it more and more with each viewing... terrible idea.

The game itself is actually very good once the initial disappointment of the lack of 60 fps is over. I beat it Friday.... nice ending fight, bit easy at the end, but interesting.

That commercial is about as bad as the Captain Planet & the Planeteers show...ech....

but it does look repetitve: wash an area, reveal creature, repeat. That is only the very beginning of the game. My roommate was actually a little distraught that there were not MORE "cleaning-up" sections throughout the game. Don't worry, it's not repetitive like you're thinking.

Now, as for that commercial... I like it a lot. Very funny, and even a little daring in how far it takes it. It's a parody folks, and a funny one.

Frankly I think the commercial is too short to form any sort of opinion about the game.... though I guess that's what all advertising is like.

It made me happy I didn't buy a Gamecube. Why on earth do I want to clean up a virtual world? I don't even clean my apartment!

theaveng, please don't belive the commercial.... as I've already said, the commercial is terrible and in no way should you be discouraged about the game. I'm not a Nintendo lover at all, I love games in general and truth be told, Super Mario Sunshine is a good game. It doesn't supply the "WOW" factor that Super Mario 64 gave the gaming world with it's full 3D world.... It's just more of the same with better graphics and new abilities.

If you don't like Nintendo to begin with, don't even bother with the game, but if you had some hopes for the Gamecube with Super Mario Sunshine, I suggest you ignore the commercial. Very few people will understand the commercials humor, most will automatically shun he game for it.

The problem is, the commercial was waaay too short to tell if it was serious or a parody. I'd like to assume it was a parody, but there was no "knowing wink" anywhere in that clip.

I may get flamed for saying this, but I'm sick of Mario. Lost interest after the NES and still really haven't gained it back. (And, yes, I have played all the Marios since SMB3. I thought Mario 64 was pretty but tedious and I'd say from all I've seen and read about Sunshine, it seems like more of the same.)

I haven't been impressed with Mario since Super Mario World. I never saw what the fuss about Mario 64 was. I got real bored of it real fast (and yeah, I gave it a fair amount of time to redeem itself too.) If this latest installment is anything like that Luigi's Mansion thing, then it's certainly not going to convert me this time either. It's a shame too,.. I really enjoyed the older Mario games.

I never saw what the fuss about Mario 64 was.

Me neither.

To this day, I've still logged more hours on Mario Bros. (the original, sans "Super") than all the rest of the Mario series combined. And like you guys, I played all of 'em through the SNES days and then... kind of stopped.

IMO, SMB on the N64 is a good example of the "just because you CAN make a game in 3D doesn't mean you SHOULD" credo.

Well, I too have played the Mario games from Super Mario Bros. and on, but I actually enjoyed Mario 64 too. Not the best (The best was 3) but still a revolutionary title that brought me into a fully 3D world. I will admit, super Mario Sunshine isn't that much of a breakthrough title.... I've already beaten it and can say that. The reason I imported it was in hope that it would be the Gamecube title that made me say.... man, Nintendo has got it right this time, but obviously that's not what happened. The game is merely an upgrade of Mario 64. I still enjoyed it though.

Seemed pretty obvious to me. Do you need humor to be spoon-fed to you to appreciate it? Like, when watching a sitcom, do you wait for the laughtrack to start up before laughing yourself? Or maybe you'd like Friends more if Chandler or whoever pulled out a big sign that said JOKE!!! everytime a punchline was delivered. ;)

Not meant as a flame. :)
