I sell alot of video games on E-bay. Lately I've been selling all my Sega CD games and here's where I've noticed something. About 40% of the buyers are female. Now I've been selling video games for the past 5 years on numerous different gaming platforms and the percentage of female buyers has always been around only 5-10%. Has anyone else noticed this selling Sega CD games or is it just me?

I don't know how to react to this topic but chuckle... moreso at the responses than the original post. LOL

Unless you actually talk to the person there's no way of telling if the person you are selling to is male or female. I set up my ebay account way before I even met my wife but now that we're married it makes more sence just to have the one and keep racking up the feedback on it. This makes it look like I REALLY like lip balms.

So the possible new trend is boys who want to be girls who want Sega CD?

Ya, didn't you know the internet has the largest population of closet cases and transvestites? They are best seen in their natural environment in chat rooms and on-line video games, not the expected city streets selling odd sex or fasion.

Funny that you mention this..
For me:
The last say 10 SNES & NES systems I've sold about 80% of the buyers are female..
I can tell they are female because through contact emails they put their name at the bottom after a Thank You ..

OMG GIRLLLZZZ!!!!!1ONE111
I have only just started selling video games on ebay, but I've noticed a lot of the buyers are female, I just assumed one of three things:
1: Chicks dig video games
2: Kids get their moms to buy them video games
3: Guys use their wives' accounts to buy their video games
I figure 1 is pretty likely, I know plenty of chicks who dig video games, and 2 is also pretty likely, of the games I got as a kid, my mom probably bought the majority of them (in the typical american suburban family, who else does practically all the shopping?).
In the end though, does it really matter? Whatever plumbing you got as long as your money's still green...

I'm gonna have to go with possiblity 2 and 3 as the reason why you see many females.
Yet, I sold a GB Player for Cube to a lady earlier this week on Ebay and she was quite excited. How could I tell ya it was a lady? Simply by her usage of words "Omg! Wow! I cant believe I won!"
Sure she may have 1 or 2 feedbacks, but nobody gets that excited unless you just won Robocop Vs. Terminator for Japanese Megadrive...but that's a different story all together :)

selling on ebay ive noticed the same trend. Girls always buy puzzle games like Bubble Bobble or any variation thereof. And theyre starting to buy more NES games. Moms however always buy gamecubes or gamecube games and seem to always want to let me know theyre mothers for some reason.
Ive yet to see a girl [or someone using a girl's name] buy a crappy videogame however, no matter how rare it is.
My girlfreinds name is on our paypal, most of my items are addressed to her, although its all my money.
Go fiqure?

I've been selling animal crossing stuff on ebay and a lot of the buyers are girls or moms. That's kinda what I expected though.
A girl just bought Disgaea from me which surprised me a little bit. I guess it shouldn't though.
I think that classic games sometimes appeal to girls because more girls seem to me to be casual gamers. The simplicity in yesterday's games can appeal to the casual gamers that Nintendo is also catering to. I think this could be a sign that the revolution may sweep into the female casual gamer that the yahoo games and other internet sites have thus so far swallowed up...
