We all know about Renovation Products as being the pubisher for many games during the Pre-Sega CD days, and also the main publisher for many Wolfteam and Telenet Japan games. The problem is that I can't find any information about them, like:

When did they start publishing games?
Why did they went out of business?

These questions and a lot more are the type of questions that I'm looking for.

Can anyone help me out?

Isn't what's left of Wolf Team making Tales games for Namco now?

I dunno, but I'd like to know whatever happened to them too. They were the best 3rd party publisher ever, next to Working Designs. We need more publishers like them and WD now. There's way too many publishers releasing crap.

The publisher Renovation was owned by and part of Telenet. I haven't checked since around 2002 but Telenet used to have their Japanese website up since they were still making pachinko games. Taking a look now, they seem to have disappeared since their website isn't there.

*edit - I just looked and mobygames has a neat little timeline of Telenet although they're wrong about Wolf Team disappearing in 1993. Aside from the Tales stuff already mentioned there was also some Playstation action game from Wolf Team that I forget the name of.

I think what they mean about them "de facto" disappearing is that they're no longer using the Wolf Team name.

Man, Renovation was so awesome. :(

Seconded on that. Most of the Genesis games I bought early on were Reno titles. You could always count on them to release interesting, awesome titles over here. Hell, if it wasn't for Reno I may never have discovered the Valis series, and that would just suck.

Damn good company. They brought over some great early release games for the genny. The Valis series, Gairies & Arcus Odyssey are quite overlooked and very worthy of checking out!

The Wolf Team name was used past 1993 though.

Really? I didn't know that. I thought the name was never used after the 16-bit generation ended. Did they use it in any Tales games or other titles?

I don't remember when the name changed over for the Tales series but the latest Telenet game I can think of to have the Wolf Team name on it is Cybernetic Empire for the Playstation in 1999.

Tales of the World: Narikiri Dungeon 2 (GBA) from 2002 was the last game to use the Wolf Team logo in the actual game itself (it shows when you boot the game up).

Telenet is still around. They mainly make golf and parlor games now. They also started up a (hentai) bishoujo download game service recently. Damn you for mocking our Valis memories, Telenet!

Literally!

Of course, now I must play this train wreck if for no other reason than for the boobies and lesbians.

Renovation was purchased by Sega sometime in 1993. It is unfortunate as no less than 4 games for the snes were canceled because of that.

That's just sad. And people bitch about Disney and (their likely to be discontinued) policy of cheapquels. :(

So that's what happened to all those games!

Yeah, Honest Gamers aren't very HONEST about the fact that they want to play the game for the boobies and lesbians (as roushi said).

That or they're gay. (No offense to Iron Draggon; I won't mind whenever we find that new Bomberman pr0n, though maybe that'll be a bit too extreme for the boards LOL )
