Just a heads up to all the n-gage fans out there

(all 3 of us ;-) )

in april the n-gage will be returning to target. I'm not totally sure to what end, but we will be carying it again (its on the next reset)

when I get the numbers of what we're getting I'll post em, but I thought i'd toss a head up to everyone.

might be a good time to pick up those last few 6.99 games while you can if it becomes popular again other stores may follow suit.

I'm hoping we'll be carying the new "online only" games like catan and civilizattion.

Good news. Wish it was the original model though. ;)

The Target locations near me have had some left-over N-gage games with those little red tags on them for ages. Unfortunately, even at 75% off, they are still more than you could buy them from off of Ebay or Gamestop. Last time I was at Target, I had the clerk scan a game and it didn't even come up. Couldn't it just be that they didn't realize some stores still had this old stock and so they needed to put it back on the price lists? I'm guessing they aren't actually going to stock the new games.

its a whole new planagram for the electronics department.

I was thinking it could be oldstock or "repackaged" stuff (sorta like that neegeo pocket crap a few years back)

but i'm lead to beleive from a reliable source that its an all new setup.

Hmm, I'm intrigued. The most recent releases are pretty much impossible to find at retail, so hopefully this will make things easier.

I just got Atari Volume 2... awesome!

I'm REALLY looking forward to Civilization (the PC title, just came out for N-Gage.) It should be here in a couple of days.

The N-gage needs more love.

I've had a lot of problems with Let's Talk and FedEx (and thieves), so if Target carries new games, I'll be happy as a clam.

Do any of you know how much they will sell the handheld for? My old ngage took a crap and I need a new one so this is good news.

This is good news for me. I need to catch up on the letstalk online only games, and if target's will be selling these games, it will make it much easier for me.

It's also worth noting that EBGames has been cycling various titles on their website.

I picked up Elder Scrolls, King of Fighters, and Requiem of Hell last week. It looks like MLB Slam is in right now so I guess I'll order it.

Ok, I'm two for two with LetsTalk.com... Civilization arrived yesterday, just like they said it would. Sweet.

Can't wait to try this one! It's supposed to be based more on part 2 than the original. I think I have the Playstation version at home. I shall see...

If they sell consoles for 50 or less I might have to pick one up. Those things are cool but way to expensive if you go "no strings".

sooo...do we get online variants now? blacked out bar codes and target released games with the bar code?

either way, sounds cool..

I've always thought the N-Gage looked neat. Especially the QD.

I'd never use it as a cell phone though, so it always seemed like a waste. I couldn't imagine meeting with clients, having my "cell phone" go off, and have to side talk into it. Of course the QD doesn't need to side talk but it still looks kind of weird for a cell phone (of course this is silly anyway, I'd never answer the cell phone if I was talking with someone, but you get the picture)

Also, I don't think there are any supported cell phone providers in my area :(

But the graphics on the n-gage have always impressed me, ever since seeing Tony Hawk in EB.

I'll have to pick one up if the consoles get cheap enough :D

I never thought about getting one either until recently when I had a chance to pick up most of the library (54 games and counting!) for not-too-much money. I've loved (some) of the games, especially the new ones... but I've spent MUCH more time playing with the emulators. The GB/GBC emulation is PERFECT and are great for stop-and-go gaming when I'm on the subway or something. The NES one is great too but stretches the games a bit to fit the screen. I'm getting the hang of the SMS/Game Gear emulator lately and liking it better than I used to. It's given me a whole new appreciation of the Game Gear library. I used to have issues with the Game Gear and its games. After all, it's really just a miniturized and slightly souped-up Master System... why wasn't I enjoying the games like I did for those on the Master System or the Gameboy? Turns out I just don't care for the Game Gear HARDWARE... the software is great. The GG screen is just too low resolution and blurry for me and the speaker sounds shitty and the damn thing is so damn big and I have it hooked up to a cable since it eats batteries like no tomorrow and the cat chews the power cord when I'm playing and the screen isn't bright enough and I just don't like it dammit. The N-Gage cures all that. The screen is bright and super-clear, the battery life is long, it fits my hands pretty well, and the sound is much better. The screen size IS smaller and the buttons really aren't that great for games with a lot of button mashing, but it beats the shit out of the original Game Gear in terms of sheer gaming pleasure. I played frickin Gin Rummy for THREE HOURS last night. My partner in crime woke up next to me at 3am and sleepily asked why the hell I was up so damn late. Who would have thought it would be because of the N-gage and a Game Gear emulator? I would NEVER have imagined that six months ago.

I need to try to emulators for the Genny and the NGPC next. I've tried the SNES one, but it needs A LOT of work.

hey now, leave the gamegear alone. I play my GG more than I play my DS. Well not really, but its close! I just bought Shining Force: Sword of Hajya and I love it :D

I understand what you mean about the screen though. For me it's not the fact that its low res. That I can handle. For me its the fact that it just plain looks like shit. I can't see a damn thing. Text in an RPG is near impossible to read. You can adjust the contrast, and can tilt the gamegear this-way-and-that, but you can never really get a nice crisp, clear image.

How long does the battery last on the n-gage? I want to pick up a PSP for emulation, but the battery life is no better than the gamegear back when I used to use alkaline batteries (it's better with rechargeables (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=82692)).

Do you use your n-gage as a cellphone? Another thing that's stopping me from getting one is that it has the functionality of a cell phone, and even though I wouldn't be using it as a cell phone, it'd bug me that I wouldn't be using it to its fullest potential. I dunno, maybe that's just me. I'm sure I'd get over it if I found one cheap enough ;)

The battery on my Ngage lasts about seven hours or so, but I bought the phone used and I think its starting to go. I'm going to buy a nice replacement battery and see how long it last then.

I don't use it as a phone, but I have TRIED it as a phone. A friend of mine uses a SIM card in his phone and I was curious about that whole technology, so I took the SIM card out of his phone and put it into my Ngage. Pa-bam! Instant working phone! The sound was very clear and the person on the other end said I sounded fine, but I'm not sure I'd want to use it as my primary phone. I'm tough on phones and like to stick my cell in my jeans pocket or whatever. The N-gage and its nice little screen need attention and protection. Plus I'd get facial oil on the screen every time I talked on it. But to each his own.

I like my NgageQD. I have Xanadu Next, Ashen, Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, KoF, and Glimmerati. All entertaining games, too bad people were so dead-set on hating this platform.
