It looks awesome - but how does it play?
Came right out of the blue; I didn't know about this at all.

We kept it fairly quiet on the production of this title. We originally bought the unfinished prototype last year and have had the game with our programmers unlocking all of the video and different content. The game wasn't even 60% complete, so we wanted to be sure to have something playable before letting anyone get their hopes up!
The AI has been made more intelligent for the single player mode, but where the game really shines is in the two player mode! (and the 6 button Sega contoller support in the game makes those combo moves even easier!) It's always so satisfying beating the crap out of your mates!
Stay tuned, we'll be announcing more about this game and an upcoming contest to coincide with the game launch!

Hmm, good stuff. Question...is that billboard in the background of the first actual ingame shot (Loki as player) animated?
J2games

Several of the backgrounds of the different matches are indeed animated!
(actually you'll notice one little glitch we weren't able to rectify, in the sequence with the racecar in the background, the car will go zipping off the screen, leaving a tire behind!)
ahh, the joys of programming off someone else's code for a classic system!

Haha, that's classic. Nobody will mind, I'm sure :)
Final question: Redbook audio, yes? Original (i.e. from the original dev team) or new?

we figured it was sooo small a glitch and it didn't affect game play any, that it would be worth a laugh or two!

Sorry, I snuck in another question up there. :P

Well shoot, I'm interested in this one. Looks nice and "old school". LOL
I'll be posting a full preview of this on my site this Friday.
Miss it not! [/shameless plug]

Yes, original audio in the game. It sounds pretty nice too! (and I have to admit to not being a programmer, but the gentleman we use is a master and able to take audio pieces and put them together into the whole that they should have been!)
He was even able to take the flaky AI and make it more intelligent for the 1 player version.
And a quick update, I had been playing a demo version up until yesterday when my master copy arrived. It's beyond my expectations!

OK, I have a master copy of the game in hand. (I hadn't played it since the last update copy we received.)
I'm not real good at fighters, so I died a few times but the game is sharp! Animations are in the background of each fight scene, there are intermission animation between the fights. The fighting locations change after someone has won 3 rounds.
There is even some hidden content on the cd that can be accessed by loading the cd into your computer (no emulator necessary to see the content.)
It's quite a sharp looking game, even if I am blowing my own horn here! I'll be posting some more screenshots shortly.

When you say 'limited run', exactly how limited; what is your production run? And would you ever do a second run if the first sold out?
J2games
03-21-2006, 07:42 PM
Limited run will most likely be 200 copies or less.
We won't reissue the game in it's original packing or format at a later time.
As this title mostly appeals to collectors, there isn't a HUGE market, but a healthy one. We'd like to see ourselves break even on the cost and ultimately watch it sell on Ebay at a later time as a collectible. (we do it for the love the love of the system, not because SegaCD games will make us into millionaires!)
Happy Gaming!

What kind of packaging can we expect? Are you using the oldschool Sega CD/ Saturn style cases, DVD cases, or plain old cd case?
J2games
04-10-2006, 02:48 PM
The Burning Fists:Force Striker game will packaged in a standard DVD Jewel case. We'd love to use the old style Sega CD cases, but they tend to break real easily!
The game launched this weekend past at the CinciClassic! There were a limited number of copies available at the show and the bulk of the games will be completed and shipping this week!
Would love to hear feedback from anyone that got a copy at the show. All the graphical artwork both outside and inside (instruction manual) were done by our friends at GoodDealGames (they are incredible artists!)
Happy Gaming!

I've noticed Might Mighty Missile, is a blatent rip-ip of Chu Chu Rocket (was this sanctioned by sonic team?).
I am curious if Burning Fists: Force Striker is based on another game? sprites / engine combo a la Beats of Rage. Basically what I am asking, is Burning Fists all original code and artwork?
I'm not too keen on "borrowing" game assets.

Is there some kind of list for all of the new games that have come out for the Sega CD? PM me

It's a game that was being worked on by Sega, but was cancelled.

I normally stay away from these kinds of posts, but to be honest, I'm surprised they haven't sued GDG yet.

For inquiring minds, sega-16 has a more involved write up on it here:

DAMN YOU J2GAMES!
That means I have an incomplete Sega Mega CD Collection AGAIN until I buy this one.
You inconsiderate bastards! :P
Nah, I remember when this was first previewed in 1995 I believe, shortly before Super SF2 hit the stores, looked pretty good then, and I look forward to adding this into my collection. Time to dust off the Mega Mushroom Multisystem again LOL

As a fighting game fan, this looks like an interesting part of FG history that I missed!
Unfortunately, my wallet's strapped, so there's no way I can pay $35 for a game for an older system at the moment.

just an FYI - BURNING FISTS: FORCE STRIKER has officially launched and of the run of 200 copies of this game, we are nearing the half sold mark! (not bad for being on the market for a couple of days!)
you can check www.j2games.com under the Sega CD section, it's the featured product so you can find it easily!

I would put the game on the front page too, not only under Sega CD.

with the new layout of the site coming, we will be able to show multiple "hot" items available. Otherwise, we had Burning Fists on the front page and alternate it with the Messiah Gen NEX pre-orders everyone seems to want!

I sold it to them..
Do you still have a backup of the original unedited buggy as hell version? If so, how much would it cost me to take that off your hands?

Actually, J2Games owns the prototypes now and as Adol will attest, our agreement was that no copies of these prototypes would be made...

Damn, it's a shame in a way. I'll be buying the fixed & enhanced version without a shadow of a doubt, but it would have been nice to see it in it's original state as well, just to see the differences.
J2games is right,i sold them the prototypes, and they have everything
i can't sell anything to you then :)
But J2games did a great job!

Adol did take some screenshots and movies from the proto a while ago. If he still have them you can compare and see if you notice any diffrent :)
