I just got Virtual On for my Saturn yesterday, and I can safely say I'm quite impressed.
What's your opinion?

It's not as great as the DC version but it's a lot of fun to play. I've whupped my brother's asses many time before and he's usually the master of Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat games. ;) I usually use that pink fem-bot, no less!)
If you like it, you *must* find a Saturn twin sticks to play it as it was intended in the arcade. (Twin sticks for Saturn are somewhat easier to find than DC version so DC users should get Saturn version and a Saturn to DC controller adapter)

i would have never looked twice at this game but one day i found the twin sticks at a flea so i just had to get the game off ebay. i found to be a really easy to beat game with choppy graphics. i do love the twin sticks though, i wish there was a saturn version of robotron i could use them with. for what its worth i set it up for clubninja, who likes such bot games, and he thought it was awesome.

Yeah virtual on is a kick ass game, I remember when I first got it back years ago it got me so frustrated cuz it was hard, then silly me i traded my saturn with 2 controllers and panzer dragoon , virtual on, guardian heros and some others for a psx and a buncha games.....now im shooting myself in the foot because im having some difficulty getting my hands on guardian heros....but anywho yeah either way I picked up saturn again 2 years ago and got the twin sticks this time and its alot funner and easier I think :)
A lot of hardcore folk hate it because it apparently plays unfaithfully to the arcade original. Myself, I'm not a big VO series fan, so I just like some of the music.

I got it free (the netplay version) along with Sega Rally from my roommate at the time who worked at a Software Etc. Great fun, even without the Twin Sticks. Even better with the sticks tho.

I love the arcade version and I bought a Saturn mostly just to play this game. I of course had to buy the twin sticks. I bought the Netlink version when it came out. I don't know what the poster above was saying about it being "choppy". It's not choppy when I've played it. It's at least 30fps. You can still play the Netlink version linked because they included a direct dial option.

I really dig the Saturn version of Virtual On, flickering visuals and all. It's a nice expansion of the arena-duel concept that stuff like Cyber Sled and T-Mek never quite did justice. It plays fairly well with a standard Saturn controller, though the twin stick makes it even more fun.
The DC game is also pretty good (and much prettier, natch), but the twin sticks are a necessity. Playing with the regular controller was one of the least enjoyable experiences I had with my Dreamcast.

Mmm.. Virtual On...
After one play in the arcade, I was hooked. I *really* dig the Dreamcast edition, but I don't care for the controller play, either. Twin Sticks are so essential to getting the full experience - too bad they're so damn pricey. Can you even use them on a US Dreamcast? I thought I read somewhere that only the Saturn sticks work on a US system.
But yeah, enjoy that Saturn version.
