I live in a small town with a small post office. I have to ship something via global priority mail to canada, Do I just stick it in a regular priority mail box/envelope and address it to canada, or, is there a special global priority mail box/envelope. As I said, this is a small (college) town with a small post office, and they don't have any boxes or envelopes marked global priority mail.

The USPS has three GPM items:

GPM Flat Rate Envelope (small) - about the size of a medium-sized envelope
GPM Flat Rate Envelope (large) - about as large as a standard Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope
GPM Box - A bit smaller than the standard Priority Mail box.

You -can't- use Priority Mail boxes for shipping anything other than Priority Mail. You have to either use your own box and ship it GPM, or get one of the three items I mentioned above and ship the item in there. Do take note that GPM doesn't allow insurance (which is absofuckinglutely RETARDED, but whatever.)

If you really want the boxes, ask to see the postmaster or a supervisor. As a USPS branch, it is their job to provide boxes for their customers. If they don't have them buried somewhere in the back (usually the case), they have to order it/them. They will arrive in a day or two. If you want a sizable amount of the special boxes (or any part of the Priority line of items; including boxes, envelopes, tape, etc), you can also have them shipped for free to your address.

Thanx, I'll have to ask them about it, despite being a small (college) town, there are a LOT of foreign students, they must have some GPM boxes laying around somewhere.
If not, then I guess I'll just have to use my own box.
