I'm undecided on mine, and I just got another one. Should I give it more playtime, or should I face that it may be Nintendo brand, but it sucks?

Those with more NES experience than I, SUBMIT! :-D

The NES Max. I actually used this as my primary controller in the late NES days. It's not a bad controller, just not the best. I like being able to use the outer ring and the cycloid interchangablely. However, the Turbo buttons ate it.

I hate mine. It's way too small and I can't stand that circular d-pad (if thats what you'd call it?)

I'm considering picking one up actually to play around with it. it looks like it'd be great to use for game slike Arkanoid, Blades of Steel, ice Hockey and perhaps a soccer game.

On another note, I've been seeing Nes MAX's popping up often at my local Babagges and Funco. has anyone else seen these controllers reappearing all of a sudden too?

Heck yes I like it, I have 3 of them, the only complaint that I can think of is that it is too big for my ape hands. >)

I've used one, but never bothered buying one. I'm pretty much indifferent to this controller, I mean, I'll use it if it's available over a standard NES pad, but I prefer, and own the much more gamer friendly NES ADVANTAGE.

I used to use it quite extensively. It's a neat little thing and worked well in some sports game like Ice Hockey. FWIW I think the round pad is called cylinoid but I'll have to find the Nes Max controller manual to verify its name.

Nowday, I just stick with the dogbone controller, it's more comfortable to use and mainly because I don't have anyone else to play sports game against. (NES as an AI sucks)

I was starting to believe I was the only one on the planet that liked these!

I use the max all the time. TOo bad there weren't more games for the NES that required Street-Fighter type moves....that red circle on the max could really helped out with that.

Now, about that D-pad....I wonder what the designer was thiniking....."Gee I think I'll make an analog/digital D-pad. Hell, no one's made an analog pad before, so I'm gonna do it!"

Sure, today's analog sticks beat the hell out of this design, but many games could have utilized it much better, if only they had thought of it (ala street fighter, for instance).

Now, while we're on the topic, I'll bet there's not a person alive who actually preferred the U-force or the Power Glove...lol

It was and is my most-used and favorite NES controller. It worked really well for SHMUPS like Zanac.

its better than the standard NES controller, which wears a hole in my left ring finger

I always felt it was good for games like Crystalis, where you could get around 360 degrees swiftly. Outside of that though, and here's where I'm spoiled- I used these. :D

the circular pad was the worse part, dont know what they could do to make it better........but the A B buttons were the best part.......turbo was only a stretch away!!.....one of the better NES designs......and i get my dogbone tomorrow so i can testify after that, they dont look very comfortable tho.....

It's not that bad, it has its good points some games its good for, some its bad, somewhat akward design. I do like the turbo feature.

I've never used one, just judging on looks, though, it would be completely unusable for me.

I hold NES controllers in a very odd fashion...I hold it basically upside down...I have my index and middle fingers of my left hand on the d-pad..and the index and middle fingers of my right hand are on the A and B buttons. The thumbs are usually wrapped around the top of the controller. I find it more comfortable, and being able to hit both buttons at the same time very quickly has helped me more than you could ever imagine...

I probably should take a picture, as I don't know if I explained it right... Oh yeah, I really dislike the dogbone controllers...those were too small for my hands :(
