President Iwata will give his speech at GDC today. Anyone know or think they know what he will talk about?

Probably cheese and the uses thereof. Videogames are more than likely the last thing on his mind.

What, the Revolution or the inadequate lighting? Both need addressing.

Did anyone else thing the Revolution controller was a power strip at first glance? I sure did.

Well, it obviously wasn't the Xbox 360's power strip. That would just be uncomfortable.

An additional controller attachment that has an analog stick.

Unless you're playing the revolutions first officaly announced game "Virtual Baby-Seal Clubbing Adventure". Then the 360 power strip would be perfect.

But back on topic im realy excited about the N-Bomb.

That's the beauty my friend! No one knows! It's a mystery!

Well, in the teaser video the "thing" was used as an FPS peripheral. Don't take my word for it though. Im sure someone here can add on to my little factoid. But im sure more details will be revealed in an hour or two once the conference starts.

I wonder if it will be another "freestyle" controller. It wouldn't surprise me. Nunchucks, anyone? Two swords? Etc.

Hm, although the idea of wielding nunchucks is a great one. I don't think it would be another freestyle controller. I believe in that teaser video it showed one single person using two of the "magic wand-free style-virtual-thing-controllers" in one game. So I am guessing Nintendo isn't ruling out using two controllers at once. But who knows? I could be eating my words later today.

iI was thinking it must be some kind of analog stick but in the pic I don’t see any attachment method (to put the 2 together) it just seems like it will be something difficult to use together if they are free floating like that.

Man – I’m curious to see what kind of wacky third party stuff comes out as an alternative

True, I'm more interested in seeing some screenshots of DS Zelda...if it's anywhere as polished as New Super Mario Bros seems to be, it might kick ass.

(or chew gum, who knows?)

Edit: Zelda Trailer (http://media.ds.ign.com/media/694/694756/vids_1.html) making the rounds on gamespot, ign, et al...

So far it seems CD-ROM games (i.e. Dracula X) will not be available at first - but perhaps eventually.

Seems that all the console makers are going to be offering "back catalogue" functionality: Xbox Live with their Arcade, Sony's traditional backwards functionality (and I wouldn't be surprised if they allow game downloads to that hard drive as well, given the required internet connection), and now the Revolution (with an impressively expanded selection of games - brokering deals with Sega and NEC was brilliant).

Poor Sony and Microsoft. People've bought their systems to emulate on, illegally. Nintendo will let you emulate, but they'll be making money off it, and somehow I feel this will be more profitable than the Live Arcade, SFII and Smash TV or no.

After watching it a couple of times, I hope the dungeons get a little more detail--as the walls, etc are VERY blocky. The sea water footage looks great...pretty excited overall.

Now that's really cool, being able to play Sega ad TG-16 games on the Rev. opens up more people to older systems!

Yeah, that you can now expect to download Sega and TG titles via the virtual console. It wasn't much a a bomb really. It was more like a few little fire works.

Wait 'til E3. Then you will get your, bomb.

Actually, with all respect to Zelda and the annoucement of Sega games on the virtual console, I would have taken an annoucement about the DS Lite and availability in the US and Europe.

The fact that DS Lites were all over the GDC rubs salt in the wounds.

It's just the initial teaser trailer. That game probably won't see a release for at least a year, or longer knowing Nintendo. Plenty of time to polish it up.

I think it's funny how some people make out the Revolution's Virtual Console to be a joke, even though several ROM and Emulation sites are taking down their SNES and NES ROMs. Genesis and TG-16 ROMs will inevitably follow.

Eventually, the Revolution's going to be the only way you'll ever be able to play Chrono Trigger or Bonk's Adventure, unless you want to pay $60 for them on eBay.

Yeah, because there will be no way anyone will list them online after Nintendo makes an example out of a few prominent rom sites.

In regards to the sailing, I'm giving Nintendo the benefit of the doubt. I'm hoping they learned from their mistake with TWW and cut down on the amount of time it takes to sail from place to place. Drastically.

The boat is powered now at least, so no more changing the direction of the wind constantly, or watching that stupid animation after doing the song everytime.

So sailing won't bother me nearly as much now.

I have some thoughts on the NinRev:

Genesis support: HOLY CRAP, BATMAN! @_@ That means that I can play Sonic 3 and Knuckles without getting out my Genesis 1 out

Turbografix-16 Support: Never played ant TG-16 games, as the only thing NEC I own is a old PC

The CD Slot: They say it's going to be able to run GCN games, but look at the CD Slot. It uses a Full Size Slot-based drive, which maked playing Gamecube games impossible, as they will get stuck inside the system due to being Mini-Discs (I'm sure you've seen the "Don't Insert Mini-CDs into a Slot-Based Drive" warnings before). I plan on notifying Nintendo soon about this soon, as the Genesis Support has actuly got me interested in NinRev.

Umm there will most likly be a smaller groove that holds the gcn games. Like in every cd rom drive on a pc.

I dont think nintendo is going to need your advice on how to make a cdrom drive for a system....

03-28-2006, 01:45 PM
Yeah Pentium you can't possibly be serious. They already said how this one's specifically designed to take in both a standard sized disk as well as the smaller sized ones the Gamecube uses. I don't even think this is the first drive of its kind, just the first that would be available on something consumers would be interested in buying.
